THE FEMINIST
MOVEMENT
ORIGIN
The origin of feminism was in the late nineteenth century, at the beginning of the
movement. The struggle for the right to vote and legal equality was very
controversial and generated a great debate in society, so the support it got unlike
today was low, as the society of the time widely disapproved and mocked this
movement, as women who joined the cause of legal equality and the right to vote
faced significant obstacles and oppositions.
Greater significance
In 1977, when International Women's Day was made official
on May 8, and was celebrated in different countries around
the world.
