RESPIRATORY SYSTEM LUNGS Villaseñor Sánchez Vanesa Rodríguez Hernández Jesús INTRODUCTION The lungs are located on both sides of the chest, inside the chest cavity. They are the main organs of the respiratory system. The right lung is divided into three lobes (sections) and the left lung is divided into two lobes. FUNCTION When you inhale, air enters the lungs and the oxygen in that air passes into the blood. At the same time, carbon dioxide, a waste gas, moves out of the blood into the lungs and is exhaled. That process is called gas exchange, it is fundamental to live. MAIN LUNG DISEASES 01 02 EMPHYSEMA PULMONARY FIBROSIS It is a type of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). COPD is a group of lung diseases that make it hard to breathe and get worse over time. Pulmonary fibrosis is a lung disease that occurs when lung tissue is damaged and scarring occurs. This thickened and stiff tissue makes it more difficult for your lungs to work properly. Treatment of pulmonary fibrosis: 1. Conventional treatment for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis consists of using antifibrotic drugs, which slow the progression of the disease and can prolong survival. 2. Eat a diet low in sodium, sugar, saturated fat, and trans fat. Treatment for pulmonary emphysema: 1. There is no cure for pulmonary emphysema, but some treatments can relieve symptoms and slow the progression of the disease. Treatments can be divided into three groups, medications, therapy, and surgery. Medications: There are different types of medications that can reduce the severity of symptoms. PREVENTIONS TOBACCO POLLUTION Avoid tobacco consumption as it is one of the main causes of lung cancer, it narrows the airways and causes chronic inflammation. Avoid air pollution. This includes secondhand smoke, chemicals, and poor outdoor air quality. EXERCISE MEDICAL VISIT Performing aerobic exercises that pump the heart and so with these breathing techniques can help improve lung function. Frequent visits to the pulmonologist are very important to find out if you have respiratory or lung problems. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION.
