Marco Simoncelli (Cattolica, Italy, January 20, 1987-Sepang, Malaysia; October 23, 2011) was an Italian motorcycle sprint racer. He rode a Honda for the San Carlo Honda Gresini Team in the MotoGP World Motorcycle Racing Championship until the time of his death at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia. He won the 125cc European championship in 2002 and also in 2006, he moved to the 250cc championship with the Gilera team, ending with his participation in the 2010 season as a Honda MotoGP rider.
