The included materials are designed to aid in the development of a fluid and musical style analogous to efficient
production of sound on the trumpet. This collection is based on the teaching of Vincent Cichowicz and is gathered
from various sources. As students progress, it is hoped that an understanding will develop that the "flow" or movement
of the notes is parallel to the motion or "flow" of the musical line; and that this movement represents the most efficient
means of producing sound on a brass instrument. Although many exercises may seem somewhat technical, it is
important to remember that the focus of this book is musical lineand tone production and that facile technique is an
inevitable but always subordinate benefit.
