Reported Speech (Estilo Indirecto)
He said: "I'm not coming to the barbecue tomorrow. I have to work."
He said that he wasn't coming to the barbecue the following day because he had to work.
ESTILO DIRECTO
Present simple
He said: "I don't like dogs."
Present continuous
She said: "We aren't working at the
moment”
Present perfect
They said: "We have finished our
homework
Past simple
He said: "He showed us his new car."

He said: "I was writing letters all day
yesterday."
Future simple
She said: "I won't say anything."

The following day / the next day
He said he would give it to me the following day.
The previous day / the day before
He said he had seen me in town the previous day.
/ who / where / why…?).
Ejemplos:
He asked: "Are you ready?"  He asked if I was ready. CERRADA
He asked: "Where did you buy that CD?"  He asked where I had bought that CD. ABIERTA

1. ‘What time do you start work?’ he asked. > He asked me what time I started work.
2. He asked, ‘Have you ever been to Germany?’ > He asked if we had ever been to Germany.
3. My mother asked my father, ‘Why did you give up your job?’ > My mother asked my father
why he had given up his job.
verbo.
He asked: "Can you tell me the time?"  He asked if I could tell him the time.
He asked: "Why are you crying, Helen?"  He asked Helen why she was crying.

Have you noticed any significant changes in the last few years in the Australian tourist
market?
