We use the present simple for:
Habits or routines (things we do regularly)
General truths, scientific facts
Permanent situations (or situations that are nearly permanent;
true for a few years at least)
Stative verbs (non-action verbs) to talk about states or
conditions, such as physical descriptions, feelings, relationships,
knowledge, beliefs or possession
Notice that stative or state verbs aren’t
used in continuous tenses.
