Hello! Here you will find written rules to Duke's Dice Hospital Solo Automa. While there is nothing wrong with the "beat your high score" solo mode that came in the box I wanted to create an opponent to test your doctor skills against. This 18 card deck replicates another person and allows you to play a normal two player game of Dice Hospital. AUTOMA CARD LAYOUT 1 When the Automa is the first player, this blue section will determine whether it flips over a department tile or a specialist card. 2 Represents the difficulty of the card. The Automa deck is made up of three difficulties (Easy, Normal, Hard). Easy is represented by one medical icon, Normal - two medical icons, and Hard - three medical icons. 3 Determines the order of which ambulance the Automa will select. 4 Determines the order of which department/specialist the Automa will select and discard. 5 Represents the dice needed (color only, the Automa never tries to match pips) in order for the Automa to discharge this card. 6 Represents the victory points the Automa earns when this card is discharged. 1. SETUP Setup the game for a two player game per the rules of Dice Hospital. The Automa will not need a hospital board or any nurses. 2. GAMEPLAY When a new round begins, flip over the top card of the Automa deck. Per the rules of Dice Hospital the players in a two player game have available to choose from: one department, one specialist, and either a department/specialist. The first player determines whether the last option is a department tile or specialist card. If the Automa is first player then select based off what is showing in the top blue section section of the Automa card. The Automa deck is made up of three difficulties. Separate the Automa deck into three piles (Easy, Normal, Hard). Shuffle each pile and then draw one card from the easy pile, five cards from the normal pile, and two cards from the hard pile. Return the remaining ten cards to the box as they are no longer needed. This new eight card deck is the Automa deck for the game and once shuffled place to the right of you to Next, if the Automa is first player select an ambulance based off make an Automa Player Area. section 3 of the Automa card (see the Automa Card Layout above). Unlike a normal multiplayer game of Dice Hospital the Draw three dice at random from the bag and place them near Automa can select the first ambulance even if it is currently the the Automa player area. This represents their starting first player. If it does make sure to give it a blood bag. The patients and creates the Automa Dice Pool. Automa will never use the blood bag during the game and will keep it for end game scoring. When the Automa is selecting an Give the Automa the first player token and flip over the top ambulance and the ambulance is already taken (due to the card of the Automa deck. Place any dice in the Automa Dice Automa not being first player), proceed to take the ambulance Pool that match a color on the card onto the card and then that is next on the Automa card. As an example, on the card add either a specialist or department based off the top blue layout above, the Automa would try to take the first ambulance portion of the Automa card. (the sickest ambulance), if it couldn't because the ambulance was not there it would take the second ambulance based off the For added difficulty, add an additional three dice to the "2" on the card. It is important to note that just like in a multiplayer game if you are the first player you cannot take the Automa Dice Pool to start the game. first ambulance. The game is now ready to begin. 2. GAMEPLAY (cont'd) 4. ADDITIONAL HELP When the Automa takes an ambulance place all die from that ambulance in the Automa Die Pool. Starting from leftmost card to rightmost card place die on the Automa's cards that are currently showing in the Automa play area. Pips do not matter. If one or more die match color then place them on the card(s). The Automa will always try to fill its leftmost card first before applying die to additional cards (i.e. it is trying to fill up the card as fast as possible in order to discharge it and collect the appropriate victory points). Not quite sure what something means? Check out the youtube video on how to play. Once both the player and Automa have added their respective die to their Ward/Automa cards, based off ambulance selected (just like the normal multiplayer game) the player/Automa will begin selecting a department tile or specialist card. If the Automa selected the sicker ambulance it will choose first based off section "4" (see automa card layout on page 1 of this document). The number, just like automa card section 3, represents which department/specialist the Automa will select and discard from the game (it does not get added to the Automa Player Area). The number listed here corresponds to the ambulance slot. "1" represents the department/specialist that was above the first ambulance, etc. After a department tile/specialist card has been selected for both you and the Automa, you can proceed with your turn the same as in a multiplayer game. Neglect any patients you do not treat and score victory points based off the number of patients discharged. At the end of the round check to see if the Automa completed any number of Automa cards. If it did, it scores the appropriate number of victory points (see section 6 of the Automa card layout on page 1 of this document). The Automa does not neglect patients as it does not care about the pip level at any time during the game. 3. GAME END AND SCORING Just like in a multiplayer game the solo game is made up of eight rounds (the Automa deck is made up of eight cards so you never will have to worry about moving the round marker). Once the game is over, add one point to the Automa's score for each blood bag it has. The Automa does not collect any victory points for partially completed Automa cards. Compare scores and whoever has the higher total wins. In case of a tie, count the number of patients left in your ward followed by the number of patients on the Automa's incomplete automa cards. The fewest number of patients wins.
