The bank I work at was robbed again last night. It’s been hit three times this month and we’re sure
it’s the same person. Every single time, the guy has vanished without a trace. It’s almost as if he
completely disappears. There’s no way he should be able to get away so quickly and without
leaving any evidence. Last night when the robbery happened, I looked him in the eye for the first
time. “Why do you keep doing this?” I asked him, searching his dark eyes for an answer. He stared

La hipótesis de Aristóteles sobre la caída de los cuerpos fue fácilmente demolida por
Galileo. Se dice que dejó caer objetos de diferentes pesos desde lo alto de la torre inclinada de
Pisa, y comparó sus caídas. Contradiciendo a Aristóteles, encontró que una piedra del doble de
peso que otra no caía con el doble de rapidez. Excepto por el pequeño efecto de la resistencia del
aire, Galileo encontró que los objetos de diferentes pesos, cuando se les suelta al mismo tiempo,
caen juntos y tocan el suelo en forma simultánea. En una ocasión, Galileo supuestamente reunió a
una gran multitud para que atestiguara la caída de un objeto ligero y uno pesado desde lo alto de
la torre. Se dice que muchos observadores de esta demostración, quienes vieron a los objetos
tocar el suelo juntos, se burlaron del joven Galileo y continuaron aferrados a sus enseñanzas
aristotélicas.
