Mr John utterson era un abogado que vivía Londres. Él parecía ser un hombre frío y sin sentimientos. Él

En uno de sus paseos ellos bajaban una calle estrecha. Era una calle tranquila el domingo, pero durante la
semana las pequeñas tiendas que estaban al lado estaban muy ocupadas. Porque las tiendas eran buenas,
estaban limpias e interesadamente pintadas, y esta misma calle estaba limpia. Era una calle agradable, para
pasear.
Cerca del final de esta calle, había un callejón en la línea de tiendas. Había una entrada estrecha a un patio, y
al lado sin ventanas un edificio feo al final de la calle. Una puerta en esta pared que estaba sin pintar y
necesitaba una reparación.
Sr. Enfield y el abogado estaban al otro lado de la calle, pero Sr. Enfield indicó eso con su bastón.
¿Alguna vez te has dado cuenta de aquella puerta, John? Él preguntó.
Sí. ¿Fea, verdad?

Un grupo de gente se había juntado alrededor del niño que gritaba. el hombre estaba bastante tranquilo, y no
trató de escaparse. Pero él me echo una mirada, me dejo helado, me sentí odiado.
La gente que se había juntado, era la propia familia de la chica. Fueron todos juntos hacia el doctor. La niña

no estaba muy herida, era más el susto − dijo el doctor. Había algo raro en esta situación. Yo sentía un odio de
repente, por el hombre que yo había sostenido. La familia del chico también lo odiaba y era normal. Pero el
doctor no era como nosotros, él era un hombre normal, médico auto controlado con mas sentido de
imaginación. Sin embargo él miraba al hombre cada rato, se giraba, enfermo y blanco con deseos de matarlo.
Yo sabía lo que estaba pasando por la mente del doctor, justo como él sabía lo que pasaba por la mía.
Nosotros no podíamos matar al hombre, incluso si quisiéramos, pero prometimos causarle los mayores
problemas posibles que nosotros pudiéramos.
Nosotros le dijimos que haríamos que la gente conociera lo que él había hecho por todas partes. Y siempre
mantendríamos a las mujeres lejos de él. Ellos estaban tan enfadados que parecían unos salvajes y peligrosos.
Yo nunca vi a tanta gente llena de odio. Había un hombre, en el medio, chulo y desdeñado pero asustado
también.
Si quieres dinero dijo, dígame cuanto ningún caballero quiere problemas con gente como tú. Le dijimos que

rato, él salió con diez libras en monedas, y un cheque con el resto. El cheque estaba firmado, la firma me
sorprendió. Era el nombre de un hombre famoso pero no puedo decirte el nombre pero era muy conocido y
honorable.
No me gusta esto dije. Es muy raro para un hombre caminar así a las de la mañana y salir de ella con un
cheque de otro hombre de casi cien libras.
Pero el contesto con tintineo No tienes que preocuparte me quedaré contigo hasta que los bancos abran y te
conseguiré el dinero del cheque yo mismo. Él hizo esto, y el banco le dio el dinero sin preguntar.

de donde empieza una y termina la otra. No parece haber otra puerta y nadie usa la puerta, excepto el hombre
sobre el que te he hablado.
Mr Utterson caminó en silencio. Estaba claro lo que él estaba pensando. Por fin dijo ¿Estás seguro de que él
