We are pleased to share that Florida City Gas is investing in the natural gas pipeline system serving your area. We
are writing to inform you about the improvements taking place in your community so you know what to expect
as we work to update the system.
Florida City Gas is an advocate for safety, and the SAFE Program is a proactive, preventive measure that will
ensure the integrity and longevity of a more reliable natural gas pipeline and distribution system.
In the coming months, we will be replacing the gas mains that were originally laid in the rear easement of homes
and businesses in your neighborhood with new gas mains that will be placed in the front easement and road
right-of-way. Both gas mains and service lines will be replaced.
The new gas main installation typically occurs in road right-of-way, just inside or outside of the street’s edge.
The individual service line connecting your home or business to the natural gas distribution system will likely
need replacing as well. If your service line is replaced, an authorized contractor or qualified service
representative will schedule a time with the property owner to enter the home or business and relight all working
appliances that operate on natural gas once the service connection is complete. Property owners should NOT
attempt to relight their own pilot lights.
Clean up of the job site will be completed as the project progresses, and all construction areas will be restored to
their pre-construction condition, with a final cleanup occurring at project completion.
Construction will take place as soon as possible and 3.5 miles of pipeline in Hialeah will be updated and
relocated by the end of 2016. In addition to receiving this letter, residents directly along the construction route
also will receive a notice at the door.
