DECLARACIÓN DEL GRUPO DE RÍO QUE CONDENA
EL ATENTADO CONTRA LAS NACIONES UNIDAS EN NIGERIA

El Grupo de Río condena de la manera más enérgica el ataque terrorista cometido el
viernes 26 de agosto con un coche bomba contra las instalaciones de las Naciones
Unidas en la ciudad de Abuja, Nigeria.
El Grupo de Río, que mantiene una posición de absoluto rechazo al terrorismo en
todas sus formas y manifestaciones, cualquiera sea su origen o motivación, reitera una
vez más su repudio a estos actos sangrientos e injustificables que constituyen un
grave atentado para la seguridad y soberanía del pueblo y gobierno de Nigeria, así
como para la comunidad internacional.
El Grupo de Río transmite su solidaridad con las víctimas y sus familias; con el pueblo
y gobierno de Nigeria, así como con la Organización de las Naciones Unidas,
comprometiendo sus esfuerzos para que éstos execrables hechos de violencia contra
personas inocentes sean desterrados.
El Grupo de Río reitera su apoyo a la Organización de las Naciones Unidas y, de
manera especial, hace un sentido reconocimiento a la labor que realiza su personal en
diversas partes del mundo, a favor de la paz, el desarrollo y la promoción y protección
de los derechos humanos.

Declaration of the Rio Group condemning
the attack against the United Nations facilities in Nigeria
The Rio Group condemns in the strongest terms, the car bomb terrorist attack
perpetrated on Friday, August, 26th, against United Nations facilities in the city of
Abuja, Nigeria.
The Rio Group, maintaining a position of absolute rejection to terrorism in every form
and manifestation, whatever its origin or motivation, reiterates once more its
repudiation of these bloody and unjustifiable acts which constitute a serious
infringement of the security and sovereignty of the people and government of Nigeria,
as well as of the international community.
The Rio Group expresses its solidarity with the victims and their families; with the
people and Government of Nigeria as well as with the United Nations Organization,
undertaking efforts to ensure that these heinous acts of violence against innocent
people are banished.
The Rio Group reiterates its support for the Organization of the United Nations and, in
particular, expresses its deep appreciation for the work done by its personnel in various
parts of the world in favor of peace, development, promotion and protection of human
rights.
