A. may - Correcto. "May" se usa para pedir permiso.
2. ________ I open the window?
A. may - Correcto. "May" se usa para pedir permiso.
3. They ________ be away for the weekend but I'm not sure.
C. both - Correcto. "May" y "might" se usan para reflejar posibilidad.
4. You ________ leave now if you wish.
A. may - Correcto. Si "may" se usa para pedir permiso, se usa también para
concederla.
5. I ________ go to the party.
A. may not/might not - Correcto, al igual que todos los demás "modal verbs"
(must, can, need, have...) el negativo se expresa añadiendo "not". Se puede usar
la contracción "mightn't" pero es muy poco frecuente verlo escrito. No se puede
usar "mayn't".
6. I ________ go to the party. (permiso)
A. may – Solo se puede usar MAY para expresar permiso.
7. It ________ rain tomorrow.
A. All of the above are possible – “may”, “might”, “might not” todos expresan
posibilidad
8. "I may go to the party." "Do you mean that you “can” go to the party or that you
________ go to the party?"
B. might - Dado que se usa MAY para expresar permiso y posibilidad, para
aclarar el significado en esta oración se usa MIGHT. No se puede usar MIGHT
para expresar permiso, y por eso con MIGHT no hay confusión, pero con MAY
sí.
