Spelling
1. Teach or revise the alphabet. You can use some songs offered in
text books or the Internet, for example these links:

2. Ask the students to spell their names. Can you spell your name?
3. Colour Words. Revise the colours to colour some words. Give each
letter a colour and practice colours and letters with different
words.
Example: Crocodile
C is red
R is blue
O is green
D is pink
I is yellow
L is brown
E is orange
They can also colour their names or short sentences.
4. How many “Ls” are there in the word (Yellow)? (repeat with
different words).
They practice “there is” and “there are” in their answers.
5. Which letter is missing? Sch__ __l; (repeat with different words).
You can also practice the key words in the story playing
“hangman” with them.
Vocabulary
Teach some of the words in the story which you think may be difficult
for the children. The underlined words in the story are in the
glossary.
Try to teach them in a context, miming the words or showing objects.
Some examples:

Name a student who is not in class to teach absent

Show them a newspaper, a story book, a cleaning cloth. Using
these items, teach them:
newspaper, the news, story, tell a story, get dirty, cleaning

Write a problem (a sum, for example) on the blackboard and
teach: problem, to solve , solution.etc.
Activities with worksheets

Reading comprehension: worksheets 3 and 4.
Depending on the level of the students these worksheets can also be
done only by listening to the story
