Students will take their cycle 3 math assessments next week, and they
will take their English Language Arts assessments the following week.
During these next few weeks, it is important that students are in
school learning and growing their brains!
This is a good time to check in with your child’s teacher to see what you
can do to support their growth and learning in both reading and math.
Continue to read with your child daily and ask them to explain their
thinking as you check through their homework.

Updates & Reminders
Valentine’s Day Celebration
To celebrate Valentine’s Day, this Friday, February 12th, students may bring valentines to share with their friends
in their classrooms as long as they bring one for each student. Please only put your student's name on
the Valentine card - do not individually address the envelopes. All envelopes should be blank on the outside.
Families will be invited to join the celebration at 3:00pm. This will be a celebration with a craft and a card
exchange. If you have any questions please ask your child’s teacher. Free Dress Day
Friday, February 12th will be a free dress day. Students may wear an outfit of their
choice. We ask that their clothing be appropriate for school, and that they
continue to wear close-toed shoes without heels or wheels.
3rd and 4th Grade Dance
This year, at the request of the 4th grade class, we will be holding our first annual
third and fourth grade dance to benefit the 4th grade field trip to Catalina Island!
The dance will take place on Friday, February 12th from 4:30-5:30pm in Comienza
Cafe. Due to developmental appropriateness, the dance will be for third and fourth
grade students only. To ensure that things run smoothly and safely, teachers and
chaperones will be monitoring the student dance. We will send more information
regarding the dance to 3rd and 4th grade families next week! To purchase tickets,
please come to the front of our Rita Campus at the following times: - Monday, 2.8 from 7:30am-8:00am and 4:00pm-4:30pm
- Tuesday, 2.9 from 7:30am-8:00am and 4:00pm-4:30pm
- Wednesday, 2.10 from 7:30am-8:00am and 4:00pm-4:30pm
- Thursday, 2.11 from 7:30am-8:00am and 1:00pm-1:30pm
3rd and 4th Grade SBAC Interim Assessment: 2/16-2/19
Third and fourth grade families: Next week, your children will take the SBAC Math Interim Assessment. This
assessment mirrors the end of year assessment that they will take to measure their mastery of the state
standards. While this assessment will not count for their official scores, it will serve as a practice for the real test
and will give teachers information about what they are doing well and where they still need to grow. Please
ensure that your student gets plenty of rest each night, and eats a complete breakfast every morning, just like
they would for the real test! If you have any questions, please reach out to your child's teacher. Night of Honor
This year, Night of Honor will take place on Wednesday, February 24, at 5:00pm in your child’s classroom. The
evening be an opportunity for your child to share and celebrate your family’s culture with the rest of the
classroom. Please read the letter sent home on Thursday, February 4th for more information about the artifact
and explanation that your child will need to bring with them in order to receive their No Homework pass. This is
a mandatory event, so if you are not able to make it, please ensure that you send a representative for your
family!
Give us Your Feedback on School-Wide Goals (LCAP Plan)
On March 2nd, the School Site Council committee will be reviewing the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP).
We will be reviewing our school wide goals, assessing the data we have to-date, and brainstorming ways to

Actualizaciones y Recordatorios
Celebraciones de el Dia de San Valentin
Para celebrar el Día de San Valentín, el próximo viernes, 12 de febrero, los estudiantes pueden traer sus tarjetas
de San Valentín para compartir con sus amigos en sus clases, siempre y cuando traiga una tarjeta para cada
estudiante. Por favor, sólo ponga el nombre de su hijo en la tarjeta de San Valentín - no dediquen los sobres de
forma individual. Todos los sobres de forma individual deben estar en blanco en
la parte exterior. Se invitará a las familias a unirse a la celebración a las 3:00 pm.
Esta será una celebración con un oficio y un intercambio de tarjetas. Si usted
tiene alguna pregunta por favor pregunte al maestro de su niño.
Dia Libre de Vestir
Viernes, 12 de febrero será un día libre de vestir. Los estudiantes pueden usar un
traje de su elección. Le pedimos que su ropa sea apropiada para la escuela, y
continúen a llevar zapatos cerrados y sin tacones o ruedas.
Baile de 3 y 4 grado
Este año, a petición de la clase de 4º grado, vamos a celebrar nuestro primer
baile anual de tercer y cuarto grado para recaudar fondos para el día de campo
del cuarto grado a la Isla Catalina! El baile tendrá lugar el viernes, 12 de febrero
de 4:30-5:30pm en Comienza Cafe. Debido a la conveniencia del desarrollo, el
baile será sólo para los estudiantes de tercer y cuarto grado. Para asegurarse de que las cosas funcionen bien y
con seguridad, maestros y chaperones estarán supervisando la danza de los estudiantes. Le enviaremos más
información sobre la danza a las familias 3º y 4º grado próximas semanas! Para comprar boletos, favor de pasar
al frente de nuestro Campus de Rita en los siguientes horarios:

3er y 4o Grado Evaluaciones Provisionales SBAC: 2/16-2/19
Familias de 3er y 4o grados: La próxima semana, los niños tomarán la evaluación provisional SBAC de
matemáticas. Esta evaluación refleja la evaluación del final de año que van a tomar para medir su dominio de
los estándares estatales. Esta evaluación no contará por sus resultados oficiales, servirá como una práctica para
la prueba real y le dará a los maestros información sobre lo que están haciendo bien y en la que todavía
necesitan para crecer. Asegúrese de que su hijo duerma lo suficiente cada noche, y se come un desayuno
completo cada mañana, al igual que lo haría para la prueba real! Si usted tiene alguna pregunta, por favor
acercarse a la maestra de su hijo.
