Dear Parents/Guardians of 8th Grade Students:
As the end of year draws near, we have many activities planned for our promoting 8th
grade students. Listed below are the various activities that your student will be experiencing.
Some of the activities are considered “earned privileges” and only those students who are
eligible will be given the opportunity to participate. Our expectation is that every 8th grade
student takes part in these fun and memorable events by being LEADERS and making great
choices on a daily basis.
PROMOTION FEE: DUE FRIDAY, MAY 2ND, 2014 AT 3:05PM *NO EXCEPTIONS
LMS will be ordering promotion gowns, caps, and 2014 tassels for all 8th grade
students. ALL STUDENTS MUST WEAR A CAP, GOWN, AND A 2014 TASSEL TO
PROMOTION. Students have already been measured for their gowns during their respective
math periods. The total cost of the promotion, cap, gown, and 2014 tassel package is $23.00.
However, some students may have a gown or cap from a former student that was promoted
from Lincoln in June 2013. These students may wear the borrowed gown or cap only if it is
from the 2013 promotion ceremony. If students need a cap, they can purchase it individually
for $7.50. Regardless if you have a cap and gown from 2013, students will still need to
purchase a 2014 tassel. The 2014 tassel is $7.50.
8TH GRADE CHICAGO ARCHITECTURE BOAT TOUR FIELD TRIP:
THURSDAY, MAY 8TH, 2014 9:00AM-3:00PM
8th Grade students will have the unique opportunity to make a connection with the social
studies curriculum by attending a Chicago Architecture Boat Tour on Thursday, May 8 th from
9:00am-3:00pm. The cost of this educational field trip is $20.00 ($10.00 for the Boat Ticket and
$10.00 for Bus Transportation).
GREAT AMERICA FIELD TRIP: THURSDAY, MAY 29TH 9:00AM-6:00PM *(OPTIONAL)
The cost of this trip is $50.00. This includes the price of the ticket ($38.00) and bus
transportation ($12.00). Students with season passes will be allowed to attend. They will only
need to pay the $12.00 bus transportation fee. 8TH grade students will leave Lincoln around
9:00am and return around 6:00pm. Please see the attached permission slip.
8TH GRADE AWARDS ASSEMBLY:
IN THE COMMONS ON FRIDAY, MAY 30TH FROM 9:00-10:00AM
Students will be acknowledged and addressed by their teachers through various awards
for their efforts throughout the 2013-2014 school year in the Commons from 9:00-10:00am.

8th GRADE HOTDOG PICNIC:
FRIDAY, MAY 30TH IN THE COMMONS AND ON THE BLACKTOP: 12:20pm-1:20PM
Students will have the opportunity to enjoy their final lunch with their classmates and
teachers in the Commons and on the Blacktop. Hotdogs, Chips, Cookies, and Drinks will be
provided.
8TH GRADE YEARBOOKS
WILL BE DISTRIBUTED FRIDAY, MAY 30TH
Students will have the opportunity to share stories with classmates and teachers along
with getting signatures from them throughout the day on Friday, May 30th.
8TH GRADE DANCE: IN THE COMMONS 6:00-8:00PM FRIDAY, MAY 30TH, 2014
THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR STUDENTS TO LOOK “NICE” BUT IT IS NOT A
FORMAL EVENT. The dance will be from 6:00-8:00pm in the Commons. Students will not be
allowed in after 6:30pm. Refreshments and snacks will be served. Students will also have the
opportunity to have individual, partner, or group photos taken with a background. Students will
not be allowed to leave the dance early unless they are picked up by a parent/guardian. All
students must be picked up promptly at 8:00pm. The cost of the dance is $7.00 which must
accompany a signed permission slip that is attached to this packet.
8th GRADE PROMOTION PRACTICE:
MONDAY, JUNE 2ND, 2014 9:00AM-12:00PM IN THE OLD GYM
All students are required to attend practice. Promotion is an important event and we
want the ceremony to run smoothly. Caps, Gowns, and 2014 Tassels will be distributed during
practice. Students will be dismissed after promotion practice by 12:00pm if not sooner.
Tickets for Promotion: All tickets will be distributed during practice. Each family will
receive only 5 tickets. If you do not need all of the 5 tickets, please share them with a family
who might need them. We will not have any extra tickets to distribute. Tickets will be collected
at the door the night of the promotion. No individual young or old will be allowed into the
ceremony without a ticket.
*Note: Students who have any unpaid book fines, lunch fees, or other fees will not receive their
report cards, caps, gowns, 2014 tassels, or tickets until the fines and fees have been paid.
8TH GRADE PROMOTION AT MORTON WEST HIGH SCHOOL GYM:
TUESDAY, JUNE 3RD, 2014 AT 7:00PM
Students should arrive at 6:30pm in the MWHS Field House to line up. ONLY
STUDENTS WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE FIELD HOUSE BEFORE THE CEREMONY.
Pictures may be taken in the Field House after the ceremony.

tenemos para nuestros estudiantes. Algunas de las actividades se consideran "privilegios

PRECIO DE PROMOCIÓN: SE TIENE QUE ENTREGAR A LA OFICINA ANTES DEL
VIERNES EL 2 DE MAYO A LAS 3:05 pm *SIN EXCEPCIONES
Lincoln ordeno batas de promoción, gorras y borlas de 2014 para todos los estudiantes de
octavo grado. Todos los estudiantes deben usar un gorro, una bata y una borla de 2014. Los
estudiantes ya han sido medidos por sus batas durante sus períodos de matemáticas. El coste
total del paquete de promoción que incluye un gorro, una bata, y una borla de 2014 es

programa de estudios sociales asistiendo a una excursión de barco de arquitectura de
Chicago. El costo de esta excursión educativa es $ 20.00 ($10.00 para el boleto de barco y
$10.00 para transporte en autobús de Lincoln a Chicago).
EXCURSIÓN DE GREAT AMERICA: JUEVES EL 29 DE MAYO DE LAS 9:00AM HASTA
LAS 6:00PM * (ES OPCIONAL)
El costo de este viaje es $50.00. Esto incluye el precio del boleto ($38.00) y del autobús
($12.00). Estudiantes con pases de temporada se les permitirá asistir. Ellos solamente
tendrán que pagar el transporte de autobús de $12.00 dólares. Los estudiantes de octavo

ASSEMBLEA DE PREMIOS DE OCTAVO GRADO DE:
EN LA CAFETERIA EL VIERNES EL 30 DE MAYO DE LAS 09:00 HAST LAS 10:00A.M.
Los estudiantes serán reconocidos por sus profesores con premios por sus esfuerzos durante
el año escolar de 2013-2014 en la cafetería de las 9:00 hasta las 10:00 am.
PICNIC DE OCTAVO GRADE:
VIERNES EL 30 DE MAYO EN LA CAFETERIA DE LAS 12:20 HASTA LA 1:20PM
Los estudiantes tendrán la oportunidad de disfrutar su último almuerzo con sus compañeros y
profesores en la cafetería. Perritos calientes, bolsas de papitas, galletas y bebidas serán
proporcionados.
LIBROS DE RECUERDO DE OCTAVO GRADO:
SE DISTRIBUIRÁ VIERNES EL 30 DE MAYO
Los estudiantes tendrán la oportunidad de compartir historias con sus compañeros y
profesores junto con obteniendo firmas de los mismos durante todo el día el viernes el 30 de
mayo.
BAILE DE OCTAVO GRADO:
EN LA CAFETERIA DE LAS 6:00 HASTS LA 8:00PM VIERNES EL 30 DE MAYO
Esta es una oportunidad para que nuestros estudiantes se vistan "bien" pero no es un evento
formal. El baile será de las 6:00 hasta las 8:00pm en la cafetería. Los estudiantes no serán
permitidos entrar después de las 6:30pm. Refrescos y meriendas serán servidos Los
estudiantes también tendrán la oportunidad de tener fotos individuales, con parejas o de grupo
tomadas con un fondo. Los estudiantes no se les permitirán salir del baile temprano a menos
que sean recogidos por un padre o tutor. Todos los estudiantes deben ser recogidos
puntualmente a las 8:00 pm. El costo del baile es $7.00 que debe acompañar un permiso
firmado que esta al fin de este paquete.
PRÁCTICA DE PROMOCIÓN DE OCTAVO GRADO:
LUNES EL 2 DE JUNIO DE LAS 9:00AM HASTS LAS 12:00 EN EL GYM VIEJO
Se requiere que todos los estudiantes asistirán a la práctica. La promoción es un evento
importante y queremos que la ceremonia se desarrolle sin problema. Los gorros, las batas, y
las borlas de 2014 se distribuirán durante la práctica. Los estudiantes saldrán después de la
práctica de promoción a las 12:00pm si no antes.
Los boletos para la promoción: Todos los boletos serán distribuidos durante la práctica. Cada
familia recibirá solamente 5 boletos. Si usted no necesita todos los boletos, por favor
compartirlos con una familia que pueda necesitarlos. No tendremos ningunos boletos
adicionales para distribuir. Los boletos se recogerán en la puerta de la noche de la promoción.
No individuales joven o viejo se les permitirá en la promoción sin un boleto.
