• The conditional perfect is used to talk about what would have happened
(but didn’t) in the past.
En esa situación, yo habría dicho la verdad.
In that situation, I would have told the truth.
Nosotros no nos habríamos portado así.
We wouldn’t have acted like that.
To form the conditional perfect, use the conditional form of the verb haber plus
the past participle of another verb. Here are the conditional forms of the verb
haber:
habría, habrías, habría, habríamos, habríais, habrían
A. Pepe is making some statements about things he has done (present perfect) and
some statements about things he would have done (conditional perfect), if he had
studied abroad in Mexico. Mark the column labeled Sí if it is something he actually did,
and No if it is something he didn’t actually do, but would have done.

• To talk about what might have been if cirumstances had been different, you can
use a si clause. In these sentences, you use the pluperfect subjunctive and the
conditional perfect together.
Si yo hubiera visto el crimen, habría llamado a la policía.
If I had seen the crime, I would have called the police.
Si nosotros no hubiéramos hablado del conflicto, no habríamos encontrado
una solución.
If we had not talked about the conflict, we would not have found a solution.
