July
July is a month when we were blessed with many volunteers.
Our
volunteers come with many talents and are essential partners in the

and leaves his or her mark on our children and staff.

On July 25 we participated in the parade in Antigua, Guatemala
celebrating Antigua’s patron saint, Saint James. Our alumnus Brian
Juarez was recognized for his studies in agronomy. For that reason our
some of the students dressed as farmers and fruits from the crops.
With the help out a team of dedicated parents, volunteers and staff, we
paraded through the streets of Antigua. Many people commented on
how talented our marching band was and how impressed they were with
our students and program.

At the end of the parade, out students joined the assembly at the
football stadium and performed for the mayor and other government
officials. We demonstrated to the community and to our students that
in spite of their challenges and learning disabilities, our children have
the talents and skills to be active members of the community.

Some of our students participated in a football camp.
This was an
affirmation of their abilities to be good athletes and a result of the
physical education program that is an integral part of the curriculum at
Brillo de Sol.
