Egipto se traslada a la Casa de Campo

Como ya tiene costumbre...
El pabellón XII del recinto ferial de la Casa de Campo, junto al Palacio de Cristal, se convierte, este verano, en un
paraje del antiguo Egipto, para recrear tres de las cuatro salas que componen la famosa tumba del Valle de los Reyes. Fue descubierta en 1922 por el inglés Howard Carter durante unas excavaciones y se trata de la única tumba faraónica encontrada
en todo su esplendor.

El conjunto funerario de Tutankhamon es de tal magnitud que tardó más de diez años en ser inventariado. Lógicamente, no
se trata de las piezas originales, pero sí de magníficas reproducciones. Nada más entrar puede verse el impresionante sarcófago de oro, la máscara funeraria, el trono del faraón y hasta su carro de paseo.

Se trata de una buena opción para pasar un día en familia. Sin duda, los más pequeños de la casa se entusiasmarán ante los
prodigios de una de las civilizaciones más deslumbrantes de la Historia.
La muestra permanecerá abierta hasta el 17 de octubre.Y ya se sabe que las
temperaturas veraniegas de Madrid ayudarán a que nos sintamos, aún más,
en el antiguo Egipto… que lo disfruten.
Pues bien, en una de sus recientes visitas a España, Moratti recaló en Botín y haciendo gala de un gran sentido del hu-mor, levantó nuestra emblemática jarra como si de la Copa de Europa se
tratase.
Pavilion 12 of the Casa de Campo trade fair site, next to the Palacio
de Cristal, is this summer transforming into a landscape from ancient Egypt
to recreate three of the four halls that make up the famous tomb of the Valley
of the Kings. It was discovered in 1922 by the Englishman Howard Carter
during a series of excavations and is the only pharaoh's tomb to have been
found with its full splendour untouched.

vamos a ver que tal le va a su equipo con el cambio de entrenador. Recordemos que el técnico que acaba de hacer campeón al
Inter, el portugués José Mourinho, se sentará, la próxima temporada en el banquillo del Real Madrid. Mientras que el club italiano será dirigido por el español Rafa Benítez, que abandona el
Liverpool después de 6 temporadas.
Tutankhamen's funerary complex is of such magnitude that it took over ten
years to make an inventory of it. Of course these are not the original pieces, but they are certainly magnificent reproductions. Straight after entering you can see the astonishing gold sarcophagus, the funerary mask, the
pharaoh's throne and even his chariot.
Massimo Moratti is considered to be one of Italy's richest men. He is currently the top shareholder and president of Inter Milan, a
club that was recently proclaimed European Champion on the turf of Santiago Bernabeu stadium when it defeated the Germans of Bayern
Munich.
This is a good choice for a family outing.The younger members will be excited by the wonders of one of the most dazzling civilisations in history.
The show will remain open until 17 October.And of course Madrid's summer
temperatures will help us to feel even more at home in ancient Egypt… enjoy.

y presidente del Inter de Milán que, recientemente, se ha proclamado Campeón de Europa en el césped del Santiago Bernabeu,
al derrotar a los alemanes del Bayern Munich.
On a recent visit to Spain, Moratti came to Botín and in a great show of good humour raised our emblematic jug as if it were the
European Cup.

You can see that Mr Moratti is adept at raising trophies… we shall see how his team does after the change of manager. It must be remembered that the Portuguese José Mourinho, who has just made Inter champion, will next season sit on the bench of Real Madrid. Meanwhile,
the Italian club will be managed by the Spaniard Rafa Benítez, who leaves Liverpool after 6 seasons.

Croquetas... que invento tan delicioso

La croqueta, al parecer, es un alimento originario de Francia, aunque es en España y en los Países Bajos donde se
ha hecho más popular. La base de este exquisito plato es la bechamel mezclada con otros ingredientes que, habitualmente,
suelen ser pollo, jamón o pescado. Pero realmente se pueden hacer croquetas casi de cualquier cosa. Resultan peculiares
las croquetas que se elaboran en Alemania y Bélgica en las que no se emplea bechamel y se usa como base la patata.
El 29 de junio se abrió el telón de la XXV edición
de Los Veranos de la Villa que, como siempre, llenan de música, danza, flamenco, teatros zarzuela, espectáculos infantiles y cine las calurosas noches de la capital.
En las cocinas españolas, las croquetas han sido, muchas veces, una forma muy socorrida de aprovechar las sobras de una
comida como puede ser un cocido o un guiso de carne o pollo.
El escenario Puerta del Angel acogerá las actuaciones
de Paco de Lucía, Manuel Carrasco, Miguel Poveda, Bebe, Natalie
Cole, CaetanoVeloso, Sinead O´Connor y una larga lista de nombres ilustres del panorama musical.
Los secretos de una buena croqueta son dos: por un lado, la elaboración de la bechamel, y por otro, la fritura. Los ingredientes de una buena bechamel son harina, leche, sal mantequilla, pimienta blanca, nuez moscada y mucha paciencia para
elaborarla cremosa, bien ligada y con sabor. En cuanto a la fritura, el aceite debe ser abundante y estar bien caliente para
que se forme un película exterior que impida que el aceite penetre en el interior de la croqueta y al mismo tiempo quede
crujiente.Y para ejemplo, una muestra… prueben las croquetas de Botín …verán que son deliciosas.
The croquette, it seems, originated in France, although it is in Spain and the Netherlands where it has become most popular.
The basis for this exquisite bite is béchamel sauce mixed with other ingredients, usually chicken, ham or fish. But one can actually make
croquettes from almost anything. Particularly interesting are the croquettes made in Germany and Belgium, where potato is used as a
base instead of béchamel sauce.
In the various Spanish cuisines, croquettes have often been a useful way of making the most of leftovers from stews and meat and
chicken dishes.
There are two secrets to a good croquette: on one hand, the making of
the béchamel, and on the other the
deep-frying.The ingredients of a good
béchamel sauce are flour, milk, salt,
butter, white pepper, nutmeg and a
great deal of patience to make it creamy, well-bound and tasty. When it
comes to frying, the oil must be abundant and very hot in order to form an
external skin that will prevent the oil
penetrating the interior of the croquette while at the same time making
it crispy. For an example of this, you
only need to taste the croquettes we
make at Botín… you will see how
delicious they are.
Por su parte, los jardines de Sabatini serán el marco ideal
para dos zarzuelas: La Gran Vía y La del Manojo de Rosas.
En el Centro cultural Galileo tendrá lugar la representación
de la divertida obra de Jardier Poncela, Un marido de ida
y vuelta. Además habrá numerosos espectáculos en la calle
(Plaza Mayor, Templo de Debod, Parque Tierno Galván,
Plaza de Oriente, Parque del Retiro, etc.).También se podrá asistir a la representación, en diferentes teatros y salas,
de La Venganza de Don Mendo, Chicago, El Otro Einstein y la actuación del Ballet Imperial Ruso.
En cuanto al cine al aire libre, el escenario es el Parque de la Bombilla. Allí se proyectarán, todos los días, dos títulos dedicado a un actor, una actriz o un género, excepto lo martes, en los que se programará una película española y habrá un posterior
coloquio. En definitiva, una oferta variada y para todos los gustos.
29 June saw the launch of the 25th edition of Summers in the City, which as always fills the hot nights of the capital with music,
dance, flamenco, zarzuela operettas, children's shows and cinema.
The Puerta del Angel stage is the venue for performances by Paco de Lucía, Manuel Carrasco, Miguel Poveda, Bebe, Natalie Cole, Cayetano
Veloso, Sinead O´Connor and a long list of distinguished names from the music scene.
The Sabatini gardens, in turn, are the ideal setting for two zarzuela operettas: La GranVía (The GranVía Street) and La del Manojo de Rosas
(The Girl with the Rose Bouquet).
The Galileo Culture Centre will host the performance of the entertaining work by Jardiel Poncela, Un marido de ida y vuelta (A Round-Trip
Husband). Numerous street shows will also be staged (Plaza Mayor, Debod Temple,Tierno Galván Park, Plaza de Oriente, Retiro Park, etc).
Also on show will be the production, in different theatres and halls, of La Venganza de Don Mendo (Don Mendo's Revenge), Chicago, El Otro
Einstein (The Other Einstein) and a performance by the Imperial Russian Ballet.
As for open-air cinema, the setting is the Parque de la Bombilla.There will be daily screenings of two films dedicated to an actor, an actress or
a genre, except Tuesdays, when a Spanish film will be scheduled followed by a discussion. In short, a varied offering that caters for every taste.
