Visas for Exchange Students
Visas for Spain must be organised before coming to Spain. Once in Spain, it is
impossible to apply for a student visa or to change a tourist visa to a student
visa. Visa applications are only accepted in the Embassies outside of Spain.
Students should apply for a 6 month visa for Spain if coming for one semester.
This visa is very convenient as students will not have to visit the Immigration
Office on arrival in Huelva. It is impossible to apply for extension of this visa
while in Spain.
Students wishing to stay for longer than 6 months should apply for a three
month student visa (type D). Within 10 days of arriving in Spain students will
have to visit the Immigration Office in Huelva to apply for an extension of up to
one year. Our office will organise the appointment for these students if the
students have been officially nominated and can provide proof that they are
insured to receive medical treatment while in Huelva.
All non European Erasmus students should be sure that their visa allows them
to be in Spain legally for the time of their Erasmus period and should know the
restrictions or limitations of the visa, for example if it will allow them to leave
Spain and return within the time covered by the Visa.
In case you are a non EU student and you want to travel in Europe during your
stay, check that your visa has multiple entries.
Healthcare
All exchange students must show proof of having adequate medical cover for
their time in Huelva in order to register for subjects at the University of Huelva.
Students arriving in Huelva without medical cover will not be allowed to register.
Students should not wait until arriving in Spain to organise medical insurance as
most policies will not cover immediate treatment but oblige the client to pay a
minimum period before being eligible for treatment.

Medical insurance policies do not usually cover clients for pre existing
conditions or psychiatric treatment. Students should know how their medical
insurance works and where they should go to see a doctor in Huelva. If they
have to pay for treatment in Huelva students should come with enough funding
to cover this expense. Our office does not organise medical insurance policies
for incoming students.
European students should bring their European Health Card or equivalent with
them and will be asked to show this or a copy of a private medical insurance
policy as a requisite for our Registration procedure.

Visados para los estudiantes de intercambio
Se debe solicitar el visado para España antes de ir. Una vez en España es
imposible solicitar un visado de estudiante o cambiar un visado de turista por
uno de estudiante. La solicitud de visados solo se acepta en las embajadas
fuera de España.
Los estudiantes deberán solicitar un visado para España con una duración de 6
meses si vienen para un semestre. Este tipo de visado es muy cómodo ya que
no será necesario presentarse en las Oficinas de Inmigración al llegar a
Huelva. Es imposible solicitar una ampliación del visado una vez que se esté en
España.
Los estudiantes que deseen permanecer en España durante más de 6 meses,
deberán solicitar un visado de estudiante de 3 meses (tipo D). Durante los
primeros 10 días de su estancia en España, tendrán que presentarse en las
Oficinas de Inmigración para solicitar una ampliación hasta 1 año. Nuestra
oficina organiza las citas para estos estudiantes, siempre que hayan sido
nominados oficialmente y aporten una prueba de estar en posesión de un
seguro médico con validez en Huelva.
Todos los estudiantes Erasmus de fuera de la Unión Europea deberán
asegurarse de que sus visados les permiten residir legalmente en España
durante el periodo de su estancia Erasmus y deberán estar al tanto de las
restricciones y limitaciones de su visado, como por ejemplo si se les permite
abandonar España o si deben volver a su país antes de la caducidad de su
visado.
En caso de no ser ciudadano de la UE y desees viajar por Europa, comprueba
por favor que tu visado tiene múltiples entradas.

Tratamiento médico
Todos los estudiantes deberán aportar una prueba de que poseen la correcta
cobertura médica durante su estancia en Huelva para que se les permita
realizar la matriculación en las asignaturas de la Universidad de Huelva. Los
estudiantes deberán tenerlo todo dispuesto antes de llegar a España ya que la
mayoría de las pólizas no tienen un efecto inmediato tras ser contratadas.
Las pólizas de seguro medico no suelen cubrir enfermedades diagnosticadas
con anterioridad ni tratamientos psiquiátricos. Los estudiantes deberán estar al
tanto del funcionamiento de sus seguros y a qué médicos de Huelva podrán
acudir. Si tienen que pagar por los tratamientos, los estudiantes deberán contar
con dinero para cubrir dichos gastos. Nuestra oficina no proporciona seguros
médicos para los estudiantes que vienen a Huelva.
Los estudiantes de la Unión Europea deberán traer su Tarjeta Sanitaria
Europea o póliza de seguro médico privado equivalente y se les pedirá que
aporten una fotocopia y el original para su cotejo y que se les permita realizar la
matriculación.
