The Pilsen Education Task Force, led by
Pilsen Neighbors Community Council, a member of
the Pilsen Planning Committee hosted its 3rd Annual Pilsen Education
Summit. The free event
invited parents and children to Benito Juarez High
School to take advantage
of various workshops intended to promote the importance of education to
parents and students. The
workshop addressed key
topics such as, sex education, teen violence prevention, career placement services, health, tutoring information, family care and
more. “What makes this
event unique is or intent to
create lasting relationships
with parents that attend.
Our message is that this
event will not end when
families walk out the door,”
said Martha Monroy, principal at Cooper Dual Language Academy and chair
of the Pilsen Education
Summit. The goal of the
education summit is to create a path of education for
area residents from birth
through college as well as
make residents aware of the
educational resources available in Pilsen.
