Biography:
LILIÁN SABA
Lilián Saba began her musical studies in Benito Juárez (Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina),
where she lived through her childhood and adolescence. There, she met Father “Osvaldo
Catena”, who will have a definitive influence in the musical vocation she felt from her early age.
She perfected her studies in the National Conservatory of Music Carlos López Buchardo and in
the National School of Dances. Later on, she studied Harmony and Composition with the
Maestro Manolo Juárez.
As far as her artistic activity is concerned, she has performed as a soloist in numerous theatres
and musical cycles throughout Argentina, also she has intervened as an arranger and invited
musician in recitals and recordings of the most relevant artists in the musical scene, and has
been nominated and distinguished in numerous opportunities.
From 1989 on, Lilián has accepted Manolo Juarez’s proposal of being a teacher in the Area of
Folklore of the Popular Music School of Avellaneda, which depends on the Direction of Artistic
Teaching of the Province of Buenos Aires.
Since 2004 and after Juan Falu’s invitation, Lilián has been teaching in the Career of Tango and
Folklore of the Municipal Conservatory Manuel de Falla of the City of Buenos Aires.
Simultaneously, Lilián is giving classes of musical improvement to advanced musicians and
music teachers in various places in the country, relating to Argentinean Popular Music of
Folkloric Roots.
