En la actualidad el diseño de los sistemas de información estan orientados
hacia aplicaciones bajo ambiente gráfico. Esta tendencia del mercado obliga a las
empresas que desarrollan sistemas de informacián a elaborar nuevos sistemas que
cumplan con los nuevos requerimientos del mercado o convertir sistemas de modo
caracter a ambiente gráfico. Es decir que si una empresa posee sistemas desarrollados
en modo caracter, especificamente bajo la herramienta SQL * Form de Oracle tiene la
posibilidad de llevar estos sitemas a ambiente gráficos, evitando de esta manera que
se pierdan los sistemas que ya se tienen desarrollados. Frente al anterior escenario
MT Integrasist C.A se propuso llevar sus sistemas a ambiente gráfico, estableciendo
una serie de planes de acción para guiar el proceso de conversión, garantizando que el
cambio se realice de forma eficiente y se pueda aprovechar al máximo las bondades
que ofrece el ambiente gráfico. A tal efecto, se define como objetivo general:
Desarrollar una metodología para realizar la conversión de los sistemas de
información desarrollados en SQL*Forms (modo caracter) a Oracle Form (ambiente
gráfico) para MT integrasist C.A. Para ello se realizó un análisis de los estandares de
las pantallas de los sistemas en modo caracter de MT Integrasist C.A, luego se
estudio la herramienta Oracle Forms, para así establecer los estandares de las
pantallas para los sistemas en ambiente gráfico de MT Integrasist. Se efectúa una
investigación aplicada ya que persigue un fin específico. En el desarrollo de la
metodología se contempla la creación de una estructura de directorio para que el
proceso de conversión se realice en un ambiente organizado, de igual manera se fijan
las pautas para trabajar bajo ambiente gráfico, estableciendo los nuevos estandares de
pantallas y por último, una vez convertidos los sistemas se determinan cuales
elementos gráficos se deben incorporar a la aplicación. Concluyendo se desarrollo
una metodología que permite convertir los sistemas de modo caracter a ambiente
gráfico bajo Oracle, evitando de esta manera que se pierdan los sistemas que ya se
tienen desarrollados. Recomendamos que se desarrolle el módulo de gráfico y reporte
que provee la herramienta, y a su vez tomar como referencia a esta tesis para estudios
similares.

In the present word the design of information systems are oriented toward an
application under the graphic environment. This tendency of the market forces those
companies that develop information systems to elaborate new systems that fulfill with
the new requirements of the market or convert character mode systems to graphic
environment. This means, if a company systems developed in character mode,
specifically under owns the SQL * Forms tool from Oracle, this company has the
possibility to bring this systems to graphic environment, avoiding losing the system
that companies have already developed. Confronting this scene, the company MT
Integrasist C.A. propose themselves take their systems to graphic environment,
establishing a series of action plans to guide the process of conversion, giving
guarantee that the change would be made in a efficient form and take the maximum
benefit that offers the graphic environment. In this effect, it defines as general
objective: Develop a methodology to carry out the information system conversion
develop in SQL*Forms (character mode) to Oracle Form (graphic environment) for
MT Integrasist C.A. For this matter, it was carry out an analysis of the standards of
the screens of the systems that were in character mode from MT Integrasist C.A..
Afterwards, it was studied the tools from Oracle Form, so it could be establish the
standards of the screens for the systems in graphic environment from MT Integrasist.
It takes effect an applied investigation because this investigation pursuit a specific
ends. In the making of the methodology it contemplates the creation of a structured
directory so the process of conversion take place in an organized environment. In the
same way, it sets terms for the work in graphic environment, establishing the new
screen standards. At last, once the systems are converted it is determine which
graphic elements would be incorporated to the application. It was develop a
methodology that allows converting the character mode systems to graphic
environment under Oracle, avoiding loosing the systems that are already developed.
We recommend developing the graphic and reporting module that Oracle provides, at
the same time to take this work as a reference for similar studies.
