When I am work I am unable to use my cell phone therefore if It was an urgent
message I would not get a text message promptly.

I think its a great way to communicate with parents who work either phone or

I think it's a great way of communicating and it may be faster than both e-mail
and phone calls.

Yo estoy decuerdo en que manden mensajes de texto ,creeo que seria mas
rapido de notificar a los padres de cualquier cosa que ocurra en la
escuela.Muchas veces no se puede contestar el telefono ,debido a trabajo u
otras cosas ,reciviendo mensajes es menos problema.

The more ways to reach parents, the merrier. I know that I may not check my
messages on my home phone daily so a text message would be good becasue I
always have my cell phone available.

For Text message alerts - quick and easy; if you miss a phone call or can't
answer you will still get the message and be able to read the information at any
point.

I think the messages are good for school grade alerts and no school reminders,
but the alerts for Market Day are very annoying and unnecessary. Also
messages for schools other than where my child attends for over-crowded child
drop-offs should be sent home from that particular school in a form of a memo.
Another thing that I detest is my phone #'s being used for political running of
office purposes. No-one should be giving out our personal information and that
happened a lot last year during the BI election.

I am all for it. I think it is a great way to be informed in this TECHNOLOGICAL
ERA most if not everyone uses text messages nowdays.

I'm all about texting because I can send and receive them for free. Just make
sure that if a parent decides that they do want texts, make sure to tell them that if
they don't have a plan it can cost money.

I think text messages would be the most effective method to alert parents.
Everyone usually looks at their text messages more regularly than voice mails or
e-mails.

Text messaging would be helpful in the event I dont get to my phone before the
machine/voicemail picks up & I only get 1/2 the message

nunca he recivido un mensaje en español... me preocupa que los padres que no
hablan ingles no entiendan los mensajes... I have never recieved a message in
Spanish (I speak Spanish)... It worries me that parents who don't speak English
are not able to understand the messages..

It's a quicker way of communication. I think some parents will be against it only
because they aren't too familiar with the technology or don't have the text service
on their phone.

Text messages are "the thing" but just adds to one more piece of information
that school has to send out; everyone has a phone/email . . notification by those
means should be sufficient.

I beleive the more channels ofcommunication the better. Texting is a quick
reminder and would be another channel to use just in case someone's e-mail is
down.

to get e-mail, I like getting the messages at home in the evening but even though
my cell is with me at all times, I can't read my texts when I'm driving.

Text messages are good because sometimes we can't always answer the phone
at work, but can read text messages.

I feel any and all information recieved through the technology offered to us now
should be used to it's full benefit within the school code for the parents to be well
informed about everyting that is about our children, scholl teachers, and district.

When at work I try and check for texts on my break. If there was an important
announcement that would be another way for me to get it. I am VERY happy to

I think that the text messaging would work out better than e-mail and phone
calling because as a working parent I have a better way of recieving text
messages than answering a call at work or looking up an email when I get home.

With having children, between sports and after school activities, and the chaos of
a normal day, reading a text message would be so much easier, then sometimes
having to replay the message a couple of times in order to hear it completely.
