BUSINESS CONSULTANT
The NTPUD is our local legislative body and as such must
step up to be a collaborative voice for our community in all
regional issues. When elected I will champion a vision of a
fiscally sound PUD that provides safe, reliable water and
sewer services while supporting a sustainable recreationbased legacy to be enjoyed by future generations.
I want to see our North Shore community on path to a
vibrant, cohesive and hopeful future for all of its members, a
community that works together so all of us have an
opportunity to live, work, own homes, raise families and
grow businesses here. This vision can be accomplished with
an influx of new ideas and energy and a willingness to think
in new ways.
My education includes a BA and MA and post-graduate
work in training and development and I am a certified
trainer in strategic planning, coaching and adult education.
During my 22-year residency in Tahoe Vista I've worked 15+
years in nonprofits and community development and 8
years with small businesses.
My experience and skills will bring a balanced perspective
and fresh insight to the board.

El NTPUD es nuestro órgano legislativo local y como tal
debe presentarse como una voz colaboradora para nuestra
comunidad en todas las cuestiones regionales. Cuando sea
elegida defenderé una visión de un PUD fiscalmente sólido

confiables apoyando a la vez un legado sostenible basado

Quiero ver a nuestra comunidad de la Costa Norte en camino

miembros, una comunidad que trabaje unida para que todos

residencia de 22 años en Tahoe Vista hace más de 15 años
que trabajo en entidades no lucrativas y en el desarrollo de
la comunidad y 8 años con pequeñas empresas.
Mi experiencia y habilidades aportarán una perspectiva
equilibrada y una visión renovada a la junta.

CIVIL ENGINEER
My experience as a director, District engineer, and private
engineer for 26-years allowed me to be instrumental in
restructuring the District into an efficient work force and
agency.
I was integral in restructuring the Engineering Department
which was spending the same amount to design projects as
construct them. With my leadership we let three engineers go
and hired one private sector engineer capable of performing
their functions. The Engineering Department is performing
more work at a fraction of the cost. Annual savings is
approximately $400,000.
My engineering firm specializes in designing utilities and
working with similar Districts as their engineer. Due to this I
have saved close to $5,600,000 by throwing out or
redesigning expensive popular designs and forcing staff to
implement practical less expensive designs. This kind of input
can only be accomplished by a person with intimate
knowledge of public projects.
My experience is going to be even more critical over the next
few years where the District is restructuring the Event Center,
upgrading critical infrastructure and attempting to
restructure recreation fees to allow improved quality of
service to our citizens.
Please vote for me so I can keep the District efficient and our
water/sewer rates down.

Mi experiencia como director, ingeniero del Distrito, e
ingeniero privado por 26-años me permitieron ser
instrumental en la reestructuración del Distrito hacia una
agencia y fuerza de trabajo eficiente.
Fui un parte integral en la reestructuración del Departamento
de Ingeniería que estaba gastando el mismo monto para
diseñar proyectos que para construirlos. Con mi liderazgo
dejamos ir a tres ingenieros y contratamos a un ingeniero del
sector privado capaz de desarrollar sus funciones. El
Departamento de Ingeniería está desempeñando más trabajo
a una fracción del costo. El ahorro anual es de
aproximadamente $400,000.
Mi empresa de ingeniería se especializa en diseñar servicios
públicos y en trabajar con Distritos similares como su
ingeniero. Debido a esto he ahorrado cerca de $5,600,000
desechando o rediseñando los costosos diseños populares y
forzando al personal a implementar diseños prácticos menos
costosos. Este tipo de aportes solo puede lograrlo una
persona con conocimiento profundo de los proyectos
públicos.
Mi experiencia será aún más crítica en los próximos años
donde el Distrito reestructurará el Centro de Eventos,
mejorando la infraestructura crítica e intentando reestructurar
las tarifas de recreación para permitir una mejor calidad de
servicio a nuestros ciudadanos.

GENERAL BUILDING CONTRACTOR/EXCAVATING
I'm a lifetime resident of North Tahoe, and have been a
general building contractor in California and Nevada
since 1976. I've served as a director of the North Tahoe
Public Utility District for one term. My responsibilities as
a director are to help decide which projects are
necessary to maintain the best quality of sewer and
water service possible, and to keep our recreation
department financially sound, while promoting
improvements and growth. It's important that our
recreational facilities are affordable for everyone,
especially locals. As a board, we decide how to best
spend your money paid to the utility district through
fees and taxes. Although I was concerned about the
expenditure to construct new district office facilities and
voted against it, once approved I used my expertise as a
contractor spending countless hours going over dozens
of pages of building plans and hundreds of pages of
specifications in order to save hundreds of thousands of
dollars for our district. My priorities have always been to
vote for what is best for the community, and to listen to
the people. My vote will never be cast to help my
political career, and will never be influenced by personal
agendas or causes.

Soy un residente de toda la vida de North Tahoe, y soy
contratista de construcciones generales en California y
Nevada desde 1976. Me he desempeñado como

como director son ayudar a decidir qué proyectos son
necesarios para mantener la mejor calidad posible de

In 1983 I started PrintArt/SierraMail providing advertising,
printing, and commercial mailings for North Tahoe/Truckee
businesses, public agencies and non-profits. I serve on the North
Tahoe Business Association Economic Vitality Committee and the
North Lake Tahoe Resort Association Capital Investment/Transportation Committee, and I am current president of
the NTPUD board. I know our community well. Having served
three terms on the NTPUD board, I have seen significant changes
and feel we have turned the corner on solving our biggest
challenge – recreation funding. I support a fast-track response to
the Parks & Facilities Department needs assessment survey now
underway and resolution of the Event Center's deficit. Our
concessionaire partnerships are paying dividends and our grantfunded parks projects are in progress. We now have the will to
step-up and develop long-term recreation financial solutions for
enhanced recreation operations and capital replacement for the
Parks & Facilities Department. I endorse continued support of
the Boys & Girls Club of North Lake Tahoe as part of this
blueprint, and believe healthy relationships and communication
between the PUD, local residents, the State Of California and
Placer County will lead to positive change. Better recreation
means better business, higher property values, and a healthier

lucrativas. Me desempeño en el Comité de Vitalidad Económica
de la Asociación Comercial de Tahoe Norte y en el Comité de
Transporte/Asociación de Inversión de Capital de North Lake
Tahoe Resort Association del Norte del Lago Tahoe, y soy actual
presidente de la junta del NTPUD. Conozco bien a nuestra
comunidad. Habiéndome desempeñado por tres mandatos en la
junta del NTPUD, he visto cambios significativos y siento que
hemos superado una etapa crítica hacia la solución de nuestro
mayor desafío – el financiamiento de la recreación. Apoyo una
respuesta rápida a la encuesta de determinación de las

en proceso, y la resolución del déficit del Centro de Eventos.
