1.
Read the story to the class. Which animal says he will always live tobacco-free? (Ponytail the pony) What
can the ponies do that shows they don't smoke? (They can blow pinwheels and sails and run races, which
shows that their hearts and lungs are in good shape. If they smoked, they probably would not be able to do
those things very well.)
2.
Point to the no-smoking symbol on Ponytail's pinwheel. Ask children if they know what this symbol means.
Confirm that a large red circle with a bar angled across it always means "no" or "don't do" whatever is
pictured inside the circle. This symbol means "no smoking." Encourage children to name places where they
have seen this symbol displayed. (Possible answers: restaurants, malls, movie theaters, schools, offices)
3.
Talk about reasons why people do not like cigarette smoke. Begin by offering a reason of your own, such as
"Smoke makes me cough." Encourage children to give other reasons. Then invite children to make nosmoking signs to display in the rooms and halls of the school.

caballos que nos demuestra que no fuman? (They can blow pinwheels and sails and run races, which
shows that their hearts and lungs are in good shape. If they smoked, they probably would not be able to do
those things very well.) (Soplan molinetes y velas, y corren en competencias, lo cual demuestra que su
corazón y sus pulmones están en buenas condiciones. Si fumaran, tal vez no podrían hacer esas cosas.)
