Matthijs Wouter Knol nació en Holanda en 1977, y estudió Historia Contemporánea
en la Universidad de Leiden y en el Instituto Real de los Países Bajos en Roma.
Trabajó como periodista independiente hasta el año 2001, antes de unirse a Pieter
van Huystee Film en Ámsterdam, donde se desempeñó como Jefe de Desarrollo de
proyectos de cine documental.
A partir de 2007 trabajó como Coordinador de la Industria en el Festival Internacional
de Cine Documental de Ámsterdam (IDFA), tanto para el Mercado de CoProducción FORUM y Docs for Sale como en el programa de formación IDF
Academy. Durante su gestión, inició la IDFA Summer School. Además, ha trabajado
desde 2001 como productor de la Fundación Arts & Ex.
Entre 2008 y 2014, fue director de Programación de Berlinale Talents. Actualmente
es director del European Film Market (EFM) del Festival Internacional de Cine en
Berlín desde 2014.
Matthijs Wouter Knol was born in Holland in 1977. He studied Contemporary History
at the University of Leiden and the Instituto Real de los Países Bajos, in Rome. He
worked as an independent journalist until 2001, before joining Pieter Van Huystee
Film in Amsterdam, where he served as Head of Documentary Film Projects
Development.
From 2007 on he worked as Industry Coordinator at the International Documentary
Film Festival of Amsterdam (IDFA), for both the FORUM Coproduction Market &
Docs for Sale and the training IDF Academy program. During his tenure there, he
started the IDFA Summer School. He has also worked as producer of the Arts & Ex
Foundation since 2001.
Between 2008-2014 he served as Programming Director of Berlinale Talents. He
currently is director of the European Film Market (EFM) of the International Berlin
Film Festival since 2014.
