Descripction of UF 02 DEEP IN FOLK 2 AUG 2015 . 15 AUG 2015
Workcamp: Vovkiv, Lviv region ENVI/CONS, 10 vol.
PROJECT: Village Vovkiv was founded in 1398. Now it is a beautiful village, but
many years ago it was a town and its name was translated as wolfs town. There
are many unique old buildings: village houses, wooden churches (XVII and XVIII
c), school (XIX c), ruins of palace, other. Nowadays Vovkiv is the centre of
Ukrainian ethnic culture and traditions. In last years it turned to be an eco village
and green tourism is popular trend in that area.
One of famous places in Vovkiv is the house where the outstanding artist Mykola
Ustyanovych lived. Since 1991 the house was transformed into memorial museum.
The museum - 1 hectare of old garden with fruit trees, herbs and flowers - creates
a cozy atmosphere here. Well in the museum courtyard is the deepest in the whole
village. On the territory of the museum there is ethnographic exposition - folk
clothes, tools, spinning-wheel, spindle, lamps, dishes, etc. Svitlycia - part of the
old barn - there is room for exhibitions, creative meetings and conferences. The
special atmosphere of the museum creates an old style kitchen with fireplace where one can drink tea or milk, or bake an apple from a local garden. Volunteers
will live and work here.
WORK: The work will include museum territory arranging and tidying up,
gardening, renovating of old furniture, assistance of eco construction of village
type oven using special technique for clay building (under instructions of master).
Preparation of wood for the oven will be also a part of volunteers work while the
camp. Besides volunteers have a chance to participate in folk art workshops where
they can learn some traditional folk art craft techniques.
LOCATION: Village Vovkiv is 25 km far away from Lviv - ancient city of Lions,
"capital" of Western Ukraine (60 km from EU-Poland boarder), one of three worth
of seeing cities in Ukraine according to world travel guides.
BOARD AND LODGING: Basic, in the museum buildings. Washing facilities outside,
summer house type (garden shower). Village type toilet (outside). Sleeping bag
required. Food will be provided. ARRIVAL: Lviv, UKRAINE. TERMINAL :
International airport code LWO (direct low cost WIZZAIR flights from Milan,
Venice, Naples); Easy to reach by train/bus from Krakow/Rzeszow/Warsaw and
Kyiv. Detailed information will come with info sheet not later then 4 weeks before
starting date.
ADDITIONAL INFO: Camp language is English. Russian or Ukrainian will be very
helpful in communication with locals. Sightseeing, excursion to Lviv and week-end
trips are planned as a part of the camp. Even if living conditions will be simple we
hope that charming countryside and atmosphere of ethnical Ukrainian culture will

Descripction of UF 03 HELPFUL HANDS 2 AUG 2015 . 15 AUG 2015
Workcamp: Lviv region RENO/CONS, 10 vol.
WORK: The camp will run in the boarding school for children with mental
disabilities (autism, Down syndrome). Here children study during the academic
year from September to June. During the summer holidays when children are out
of school, the volunteers will help to prepare the school building for the new
academic year, in order to make the school, sport ground and surrounding garden
nicer and more comfortable place for children who live and study here. The work
will include but not limited to refurbishing windows, doors and wall painting,
tidying up and improvements on sport ground, garden and territory.
LOCATION: Lviv is most western Ukrainian city, located only 60 km from EUPoland boarder. Lviv city has about 755 years history, it's called cultural capital of
Ukraine and has plenty of tourists attractions. This is the city of festivals and
beautiful architecture, city of multicultural and wonderful atmosphere with lots of
coffee places and pubs, city where old traditions and new ideas are
interweaved. The central part of the city of Lviv has been admired for its
architectural beauty and in 1998 was included in the World Heritage List of
UNESCO. Besides, Lviv was one of the host cities during championship EURO 2012
and is oriented for development of cultural and tourism industry - that's why the
logo of our city is Lviv - open to the world.
BOARD AND LODGING: Volunteers will live in the same boarding school. Bed
clothe will be provided. Sleeping bags not needed.Food will be partly madden by
volunteers (breakfast, lunch) and partly served (dinner).
ARRIVAL: Lviv, UKRAINE. TERMINAL: International airport code LWO (direct low
cost WIZZAIR flights from Milan, Venice, Naples); Easy to reach by train/bus from
Krakow/Rzeszow/Warsaw and Kyiv. Detailed information will come with info sheet

sightseeing and excursions in Lviv city, possible trips to castles in Lviv region on
weekends.

music, clothes, recipes and other things for presentation of your country at
intercultural evening.
