Dear Suany,
My name is Yuko and I live in a dorm called Badin Hall. I believe you met another
young woman who lived in Badin, named Danielle. My friend Alex (who speaks
Spanish!) and I are writing to you, but we write on behalf of a whole dorm of 146 girls
(kind of like a large hogar) who have read your letter and are excited to be a part of your
life.
I am so glad you like math and enjoy learning so much. We are in university and are
studying many different subjects. I am studying biology and want to be a doctor
someday too. Alex is studying law. I think we have a lot in common, because I also love
to drink coffee and to swim! Have you had the opportunity to sew anything remarkable
lately? Do you ever sew any of your own clothes? My grandmother was very good at
sewing and I wish I had learned more from her about it.
Speaking of becoming a doctor, medicine is what first introduced me to NPH. I was able
to visit Rancho Santa Fe in January with the Daly family. Have you ever met them? I
loved the Ranch and agree that it is very beautiful. I spent some time with the children
in Casa Suyapa, and though my Spanish is not very good they were so much fun to play
with. We met Reinhart, Sister Kolbe, and Stefan while we were there, and it makes me
happy to know such wonderful people live on the Ranch with you, plus many more I
have not met yet!
I am not sure when I will be able to get back to Honduras but I really hope to come back
to the Ranch someday. Two of my friends, a boy named Alex and a girl named Elle,
hope to visit again next January. Elle speaks much better Spanish than I do so I will tell
her to look out for you!
