Estimados amigos,
En la recta final de la preparación de nuestro Congreso Internacional de Seguridad contra
Incendios, SCI2009, afrontamos el nuevo reto con preocupación por el efecto de la crisis en
nuestro sector, en el que la industria y la construcción están sufriendo gravemente las consecuencias. La crisis financiera, junto al aumento de los costes de producción y la caída del
consumo están incidiendo en las ventas de las empresas, por tanto, reduciendo los márgenes
y creando graves, y posiblemente perdurables, daños al sector.

Es en estos momentos en los que más que nunca un congreso internacional es de vital
importancia. Cuando las dificultades del mercado hacen peligrar los principios de calidad, sostenibilidad en la edificación, la vigilancia y control de instalaciones y materiales, por no hablar
del enfoque medioambiental y el cumplimiento normativo, la industria entera ve peligrar la perdurabilidad de las empresas y puestos de trabajo.
Durante tres días, el Centro de Convenciones Norte de la Feria de Madrid será el lugar
de encuentro de la seguridad contra incendios en Europa, aglutinando a todas las entidades
públicas y privadas relacionadas con la prevención, protección y seguridad contra incendios: universidades, escuelas, ministerios, comunidades autónomas, ayuntamientos, cuerpos
de bomberos, asociaciones, empresas de ingeniería, fabricantes, instaladoras y mantenedoras,
aseguradoras, profesionales y consultores, etcétera.
El SCI2009, consolidado a través de las ediciones anteriores como cita ineludible para el sector,
es una oportunidad inigualable para afrontar juntos el futuro más inmediato, ya que reúne en
un mismo espacio a los máximos exponentes de la seguridad contra incendios, proporcionándonos la posibilidad de compartir conocimientos, últimos avances tecnológicos y debatir sobre
normativa, legislación, desarrollo e innovación.
A lo largo de las dos jornadas en las que se desarrolla el programa abordaremos los nuevos
retos científico-técnicos; la actualidad legislativa y normativa que afecta al sector y presentaremos las tendencias y previsiones de futuro en las cuales va a estar inmersa la protección contra
incendios, tanto a nivel nacional como internacional, aportando ideas y soluciones para un crecimiento continuo, equilibrado y respetuoso con la calidad y el medio ambiente.
Desde estas líneas quiero invitarles formalmente a participar con nosotros en la construcción del
futuro.

Dear friends,
In the final stretch of the preparation of our International Fire Safety Conference, SCI2009, we
are faced with the new challenge of concern for the effect of the crisis in our sector, in which
both industry and construction are suffering the consequences gravely. The financial crisis,
together with the increased production costs and the fall in consumption are affecting company sales and, therefore, reducing margins and creating serious, and possibly lasting, harm to
the sector.

It is in such circumstances that an international conference is more than ever of vital importance. When difficulties in the marketplace endanger the principles of quality, sustainability in
construction, monitoring and control of facilities and materials, not to mention the environmental aspect and regulatory compliance, the entire industry sees the survival of companies and
jobs to be in peril.
For three days, the North Convention Centre of Feria de Madrid will be the meeting place on
safety from fire in Europe, bringing together all the public and private entities concerned about
fire prevention, protection and safety: universities, colleges, ministries, regional communities, city
councils, fire departments, associations, engineering companies, manufacturers, installers and
maintenance firms, insurance companies, fire engineering professionals and consultants, etc.
The SCI2009, consolidated through the previous editions as an event not to be missed for the
sector, is an unmatched opportunity to face the immediate future together, since it gathers
together in one place the maximum authorities on Fire Safety and offers us the possibility of
sharing expertise and the latest technological advances, as well as discussing regulations, legislation, development and innovation.
During the two days scheduled for the program we will examine the new scientific and technical challenges, the latest legislative and regulatory developments affecting the sector, and we
will present the trends and forecasts in which fire protection will be immersed at both national and international level, putting forward ideas and solutions for an ongoing and balanced
growth that is respectful regarding quality and the environment.
