The Office of Religious Education in the San Pedro Pastoral Region is proud to recognize four catechists who have served their parishes over 10 years with marked excellence, dedication and passion for
ministry. They are the example of a model catechist who is always the first to arrive and the last to depart; willing in every circumstance to offer time, talent and treasure; and in the greatness of their service, inspires others to
give their best to the children, adolescents and adults under their care.

Pastoral de San Pedro condecora a cuatro catequistas que han servido en sus parroquias por mas de 10 años, con admirable
excelencia, dedicación y pasión por su ministerio. Son un catequista modelo que es siempre el primero en llegar y el úl%mo en
par%r; dispuesto en cada circunstancia a ofrecer su %empo, talento y tesoro; y con su encomiable servicio, inspira a otros para
que den lo mejor de sí a los niños, adolescentes y adultos bajo su tutela.
AWARDEES / CONDECORADAS
Guadalupe Quintero; serving the community of St. Emydius Church in Lynwood over 25 years. She was nominated for
her unwavering commitment to serve—as a catechist and as the Fundraiser Coordinator. She is a hardworking and responsible woman As a catechist, she is dedicated to her group of children, and is always present and ready to teach. Her Saturday’s begin at 5:00 am as she coordinates the fundraising sale that sustains the religious education program. Sirviendo a la
comunidad de San Emigdio por mas de 25 años. Es catequista comprometida y responsable. También es la coordinadora
para la Recaudación de Fondos que sostiene al programa de educación religiosa.
Margaret Hernandez;
Hernandez currently serving the community of St. Helen Church in South Gate. She was nominated for her 36
years of loving and serving children and teenagers in catechesis. Margaret has given her heart to the children under her
care, beyond being a regular catechist she cares and helps not only the children but the families by encouraging and guiding them to become all they can be. There was a teenager who had cancer and had not received her F.H.C, she prepared
her at her home, talked and comforted her. After receiving Holy Communion, she was so grateful to her, and said her
illness was more bearable now. Sirviendo a la comunidad de Santa Elena y a la catequesis por 36 años con una gran dedi-
cación y apertura de brindar a los niños y jóvenes su Corazón. Su amor por ellos se expande mas allá de la catequesis.
Margaret, preparo a un joven con cáncer en su casa para recibir la Eucaristia, acompañándolo y brindándole consuelo.
Jerry Domingue; has been a Catechist at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Whittier for over 40 years. During Jerry’s
teaching experience, she has developed a wonderful rapport with her students each year. The excellence that she brings is
dedication, creativity, loving and nurturing relationships with the children and providing an environment that welcomes
the encounter with the love of Christ! She makes sure that the children understand the theme and story presented for
each lesson. She also has the gift of recognizing when a student needs special assistance or attention. The last 4 years, Jerry has journeyed with children in the RCIA process. She is a Eucharistic minister. Jerry is always willing to share her talents with our parish! Sirviendo a la comunidad de Santa Maria de la Asunción en Whittier por mas de 40 años. Durante
este tiempo, ella a desarrollado un carisma para que los niños tengan un encuentro con el amor de Cristo! La excelencia
que brinda es dedicación, creatividad, y servicio incondicional.
Alice Sandoval; serving the community of Holy Trinity in San Pedro for over 30 years. She was nominated for being a
devoted catechist who has given many years and countless hours of her time to the youth in our parish. After 30 years,
Alice is still keeping her lessons fresh, creative, and current. She has a special love for all of the children in her classes,
and never tires of sharing Christ's message with them.Sirviendo a la comunidad de la San*sima Trinidad en San Pedro
por mas de 30 años. Durante este %empo a sido una catequista dedicada a servir a los jóvenes de esta parroquia. Sigue
siendo crea%va, demostrando el amor que %ene para sus estudiantes, compar%endo el mensaje de Cristo.
