Instructions for Patients who cannot empty bladder and go home with catheter.
1. While you have the catheter in place:

take one tablet (Cipro) in the morning when you get up.

Every four hours:
a. Take out the plug at the bottom of the catheter and allow the urine to drain out
b. Wash the plug with water which has been boiled and cooled.
c. Replace the plug in the catheter.
2. 3 days after going home, go to the clinic at ……………………………………in the morning.





Take with you the catheters and the instructions you have been given for the doctor.
The Doctor/Nurse will remove the catheter and then YOU WILL HAVE TO STAY AT
CLINIC UNTIL YOU HAVE URINATED A LOT
If you are unable to urinate, the Doctor/Nurse will put in another catheter and send you
home.
The Doctor/Nurse will also tell you when to return to the clinic to have the catheter
removed.
Once again you will have to stay at the clinic until you have urinated.
3. The clinic may want to see you again after catheter removed to make sure everything is OK.

Instrucciones Para Pacientes Que No Pueden Orinar, y Que Van a Casa Con Sonda
1) Cuando usted tiene la sonda...

Tomar 1 pastilla (Cipro) antes de desayunar.

Cada 4 horas...
- Quitar el tapón blanco para sacar la orina.
- Después de sacar la orina, lavar el tapón blanco con agua tibia que ha sido hervida.
- Colocar de nuevo el tapón blanco en su lugar.
2) Depués de 3 días, ir a la clínica en ___________________________, en la mañana.

Llevar todas las hojas de instrucciones y las sondas, para dar al doctor o a la enfermera.

El doctor o la enfermera quitará la sonda. Usted tendrá que quedarse en la clínica hasta
orinar una cantidad suficiente.

Si usted no puede orinar, el doctor o la enfermera pondrá otra sonda y usted puede
regresar a casa.

El doctor o la enfermera le dará otra cita para regresar a la clínica y quitar la sonda. Una
vez más, tendrá que quedarse en la clínica hasta orinar una cantidad suficiente.
3) Es posible que el doctor o la enfermera le de otra cita para examinación.
