Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Queridos Hermanos y Hermanas en Cristo,
Before I pack up and move on to my new
assignment on the banks of the Mississippi, I wish
to express my heartfelt thanks to my associate
priests, staff members and all members of the
community, for these past six years shared
together at St. Francis Chapel.
Antes de embalar y de mudarme a orrillas del Rio
Mississippi para comenzar mi nueva tarea
pastoral, quiero agradecer de corazón a mis
sacerdotes asociados, a los miembros del equipo
pastoral, y a todos los miembros de la comunidad,
por estos últimos seis aňos compartidos juntos en
Capilla St. Francis.
After spending nearly all of my first 27 years
of Oblate life in Italy and Argentina, St. Francis
Chapel was my first priestly assignment in the
United States. Here it has been my special
privilege to enjoy a particularly rich experience of
our Lanterian apostolate, with the celebration of
the Liturgies, Eucharistic adoration, and the
Sacrament of Reconciliation, and also with the
Spiritual Exercises, and the Bible study groups in
Spanish, Italian and English.
Despite the fact that I already miss you dearly, I
am going to St. Mary’s parish community in Alton,
Illinois with a joyful spirit of faith, to embrace
whatever the Lord will have awaiting me there at
this time.
In this special jubilee year for St. Francis Chapel,
and in this universal Year of Faith, we continue to
offer our special prayers for the perseverance of
our Oblate seminarians. We pray also in
appreciation for Fr. John Wykes, OMV, as he
generously assumes again the directorship of the
Chapel. Let us likewise mutually remember one
another in our prayers at the altar, asking the
Lord’s continued abundant blessings and peace!

Después de haber pasado practicamente todos
mis primeros 27 aňos de vida oblata en Italia y en
Argentina, mi primera tarea de apostolado
sacerdotal en los Estados Unidos fué en Capilla
St. Francis. Aquí ha sido mi privilegio
especial, de haber disfrutado de una
experiencia tan rica de nuestro apostolado
lanteriano, con la celebración de las
Litúrgias, la adoración eucarística y del
Sacramento de la Reconciliación,
juntamente con los Ejercicios Espirituales, y
los grupos de studio bíblico en espaňol, en
italiano y en inglés.
A pesar de que ya les estoy extraňando, yo
me voy a la comunidad parroquial de Santa
María en Alton, Illinois con espíritu de fé,
para abrazar allí la tarea que el Seňor me
tendrá preparada.
En este aňo especial jubilar de la Capilla St.
Francis, y en este aňo universal de la Fé,
continuamos ofrececiendo nuestras oraciones
especiales por la perseverancia de nuestros
seminaristas oblatos. Demos las gracias
tambien al P. John Wykes, OMV, mientras que
assume con generosidad la tarea de dirigir la
Capilla nuevamente. Recordémosnos,
mutuamente, además, en nuestras oraciónes
al altar, pidiéndole al Seňor que nos colme a
todos con sus abundantes bendiciones y con
su paz!
