School Newsletter #25: March 5, 2014
Congratulations to Geng’s Geniuses and to the
Waychunas Warriors!
Ms. Geng’s advisory is the winner of the GPA
competition. They met all three of their goals this
session. They maintained a 2.6 GPA, had over 91%
attendance and met their demerit goal. Congrats to
Geng’s girls! The Waychunas Warriors are the winners
of the boys’ advisory competition. They maintained a
2.45 GPA. Congrats warriors!
No School this Friday, 3/7
There will not be school this Friday, 3/7, due to a Staff
Development Day.
Detention on Friday, 3/7
Detention will be from 7:30- 12:30 this Friday. The bus
will run the normal route in the morning. The bus will
return for pickup at 12:30PM. Breakfast and lunch will
be provided. If students only have one detention they
are released at 10:30 or students can stay for the
second detention and earn a credit.
Sexual Health Presentation
The last sexual health presentation will be this
Thursday, 3/6. This presentations is keeping with the
comprehensive sexual health mandate given to Chicago
Public Schools. If you would prefer to opt your student
out of participating in this presentation, please provide
a signed letter to the front office indicating this
preference.
Refer a Friend or Family Member to Baker:
Baker College Prep is taking applications for the 2014-15
school year on a first-come first-served basis. If you
know any students who are interested in enrolling in
the 9th grade or 10th grade this fall, please notify our
main office and also encourage them to attend our
information session on Thursday, March 6 (5:30-6:30
pm).

Baker College Prep parent at our March 6 information
session or at any other upcoming community events,
please call us at 773.535.6460. We would love to have
you be a part of recruiting our next class of students!
Outside Enrichment Opportunity with the YMCA
If you are looking for an outside enrichment activity,
you can join the YMCA Black and Latino Achiever’s
Program. This is a career exploration program where
students learn about various careers and met different
professionals. They met on Saturdays, so it will not
interfere with Night School. Contact Ms. Sharpe for
more information.
If your student has completed an outside enrichment,
they should fill out a form to document their hours. This
form is available in the front office.

Felicidades a los tutores de Geng y Waychunas!
La tutora de Geng es la ganadora de la competición de
los tutores. Las chicas realizaron todas de las tres
metas. Ellas mantenían un GPA más que 2.6, tenían 91%
asistencia y realizaron su meta de deméritos.

Presentación de educación de salud sexual
El 6 de marzo Baker estará ofreciendo la última
presentación educativa sobre salud sexual. Esta
presentación es autorizada por las escuelas públicas de
chicago y están detalladas para dar más información
sobre la educación sexual. Si usted decide que su hijo(a)
no participe en esta presentación por favor de escribir
una carta explicando su decisión y entrega la a oficina.
Detención está Viernes, 3/7
Detención será a 7:30-12:30 esta Viernes, 3/7. El
autobús va a pasar para los estudiantes a la hora usual y
el autobús va a salir la escuela a las 12:30pm.
Estudiantes que solo tiene un detención pueden salir
antes o esperar por el autobús y ganar un crédito extra.
Vamos a proveer desayuno y almuerzo
Estudiantes necesitan llevar el uniforme para asistir. Si
su estudiante no asista, la consecuencia es un
suspensión de escuela el próximo Martes.

Baker College Prep está aceptando aplicaciones para el
año escolar 2014-2015 por orden de llegada. Si Ud.
conoce estudiantes que tienen interés en inscribirse en
el grado 9 o 10, por favor notifica nuestra oficina
Oportunidad de Enriquecimiento con el YMCA
SI su estudiante está buscando una actividad de
enriquecimiento, su estudiante puede inscribirse al
programa de YMCA .se llama Black y Latino Achievers.
Este programa es para exploración de carreras donde
estudiantes van aprendiendo sobre carreras diferentes
y conocer profesionales. Ellos se reúnen los sábados.

Si su estudiante ha realizado un enriquecimiento, él
debe completar la forma para obtener su crédito. La
forma está en la oficina.
