Mass Intentions The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is the
greatest and most perfect prayer we can offer because
it is the prayer of Jesus Christ to the Father. The Mass
is the most beautiful gift we can give to others. Masses

Memorial Candles: The memorial candles that burn for
one year were up on December 31st. If you would like to
reserve a candle for the year 2015, the donation is still the
same - $100.00 for the entire year. You can make these
arrangements at the rectory anytime during office hours.

Second Sunday in Ordinary Time
Men have a habit that apparently is not shared by their wives. It's called raiding the refrigerator. It is a simple process
in which we hear a little voice in our heads (or our stomachs) which commands us to find something to eat. Now,
most of us are pretty clueless when it comes to what exactly we want or where exactly we might find it. We do our
best not to let anyone know what we are doing, but the minute we open that refrigerator door, our wives are suddenly standing behind us, asking "What are you looking for?" What are you looking for? Some people spend their entire
lives trying to "find themselves" or "find the meaning of life." Sadly, some find neither. Two of John the Baptist's followers were with him when Jesus walked by one day. "Behold, the Lamb of God," John said to them. Immediately,
they wanted to be with him, referring to him as rabbi, or teacher. Andrew introduced his brother Simon to Jesus who
immediately changed Simon's name to Peter. In this short period of time, these men found the meaning of life-and
themselves. Today's Gospel reading from John tells of the beginning of Jesus' other family, his disciples. The Catechism of the Catholic Church reminds us that "the Christian family is a communion of persons, a sign and image of
the communion of the Father and the Son in the Holy Spirit" (CCC 2205). By praying daily and reading the word of
God, we strengthen our families and further our ability to spread the Gospel of the Lord, just as those called to Jesus' other family were able to do when they found what they were looking for.
Segundo Domingo Del Tiempo Ordinario
Hoy empezamos el tiempo ordinario, después de haber celebrado las fiestas de la Navidad y de la Epifanía. El domingo pasado terminamos el Tiempo de la Navidad mediante la celebración del Bautismo del Señor. Durante este
año litúrgico escucharemos los textos más importantes del Evangelio de san Marcos, aunque debemos de tomar en
cuenta que en algunos domingos escucharemos el Evangelio de san Juan, como es el caso de hoy. El enfoque central de Marcos es el misterio de Jesucristo. De acuerdo al texto del Evangelio de este domingo lo que a Juan Bautista le interesa es señalar a Jesús como el "Cordero de Dios" y el único camino de salvación que nos lleva a la vida
eterna. Es por eso que Juan Bautista convence a sus discípulos Andrés y Juan a que sigan a Jesús y no nada más
a él. Juan Bautista deja muy claro a sus discípulos que el único salvador es Jesús. Pero, ¿confiamos plenamente
en Jesús que dio la vida por nosotros y por todas nuestras penas y alegrías? Jesús recibió a los discípulos de Juan
Bautista como personas muy especiales, y ellos respondieron prontamente al llamado de Jesús. Fue tanto su interés que hasta le preguntaron: "¿Dónde vives, Rabí?" La respuesta fue siempre la misma: "Vengan a ver". Hoy el
Señor nos invita a seguirlo. No nos hagamos sordos a su voz. Nuestra respuesta debe ser única y debe de llevar el
sello de nuestra personalidad, de nuestra entrega a nuestra vocación cristiana. Al celebrar la Eucaristía celebramos
la presencia del Señor. Es en la Eucaristía donde lo encontramos y donde nos convertimos en mejores cristianos.
Así es cómo él nos responde a la pregunta: "¿Dónde vives?" Hoy Jesús lanza su invitación: "Vengan a ver". ¿Cuál
es nuestra respuesta en este momento de nuestra vida? ¿Tenemos tiempo para seguirlo?
Intenciones De Las Misas El Santo Sacrificio de la Misa es la oración más grande y más perfecto que podemos ofrecer, porque es la oración de Jesucristo al Padre. La Misa es el don más hermoso que podemos dar a
los demás. Las Misas se pueden ofrecer no sólo por los difuntos, sino también por lose enfermos, en acción de gracias por los favores recibidos, cumpleaños, aniversarios, y por cualquier intención especial. La donación por cada
Misa es de $15.00. Pasar por la oficina de la parroquia (calle de 21st) para reservar sus Misas.
If you know of someone who has not received First Communion or Confirmation, or maybe even some neighbors
who talk about our parish and have never been baptized, why don’t you fill out the information for us this week. We
will contact them in September or October to see if they are interested in coming closer to Christ in the sacraments
of the church.
Quizás tú conoces a alguien que necesita recibir sus sacramentos. Quizás tienes un vecino que habla de la iglesia
y quisiera bautizarse. Quizás tú serás el misionero de Cristo. Danos la información y cuando empezamos las
clases durante Septiembre y Octubre, les mandaremos un recuerdo para que conozcan también Cristo en los sacramentos!
