¡Felices Vacaciones Y Feliz Lectura! Minor Elementary Summer Reading List 2014 A Message to Minor Patriot Families Fostering a love of reading in our children is one of the greatest gifts we can give them. Establishing this habit is a shared responsibility between the home and the school. We want students to become lifetime readers. The key is enjoyment. A child who sees reading as a pleasant and relaxing activity is likely to enjoy it. Reading widely from this list will give students a range of experiences with many wonderful titles. While specific titles are provided, students may read any book by the authors listed. Students may also read any book suggested by a school media specialist, public librarian or teacher. The books are clustered by grades K-1, 2-3 and 4-5. Students can read books that are listed by the grade he/she is entering in the fall of the upcoming school year. Together we can make reading an exciting and integral part of our young people’s lives. The latest research shows children who read at least 4 books over the summer maintain or even increase their skills. We hope you enjoy the chance to read together over the next few months.
