Five Colombians Tortured and Killed in Mexican State of
Veracruz
Mexico City, November 23 (teleSUR-RHC)-- Five Colombian nationals were found dea
d with signs of torture in the southeastern Mexican state of Veracruz, where the
y were reported missing 10 days ago, La Jornada reported Sunday.
According to the Mexican newspaper, the five Colombians were found dead in

municipality of Veracruz, one of the country's most violent states. The five ma
les were allegedly abducted from their home in Cordoba and taken almost 80 miles
away to their deaths.
The Veracruzan state prosecutor's office said the Colombians were allegedly invo
lved in criminal activities.
“They were apparently involved in illegal activities, which is one of the main l
ines of investigation," the office said in a statement. "Authorities are looking
into organized crime involvement in this case.”
The bodies of the five Colombians were found last Tuesday and will soon be sent
back to Colombia, said Javier Tamayo, the Colombian director of the National Att
ention for the Defense of the People.
Media in Veracruz has highlighted that the Colombians were tortured before being
killed.

Relatives of the five Colombians presented an official complain in their hometow
n of Risaralda, Colombia, saying that they had disappeared from the home where t
hey lived in Cordoba, Veracruz, on the night of Nov. 11 after a fight broke out.
No further explanation was given by the families.
The families in Colombia said that the five deceased men were involved in a smal
l loans scheme at high interests.
Tamayo said the five men were from poor families that live in the Risaralda regi
on.
