SOCIO-ECONOMIC ASPECTS OF MOLECULAR
BIOSCIENCES AND BIOTECHNOLOGY
Duration and temporal location within the curriculum: The module contains five
subjects, each containing one course. Anthropology and English are taught in the first
course, second semester. Social Doctrine of the Church is taught in the second course,
second semester. Legislation and Economy and Ethics and Professional Deontology
are both taught in the fourth course, second semester.

COURSE GUIDE AREA/SUBJECT: SOCIAL DOCTRINE OF THE
CHURCH

GENERAL GOALS
a.
To expose the pupil the contents of Social Doctrine of the Church in order to give
them a view of it and to see its solidarity service for the society today –not only for
the catholic persons-.
b.
To favor the knowledge and concepts in order to apply the methodology based in “to
see, to decide, to act” in the society from the evangelic perspective.
c.
To do the pupil capable to know to recognize the fundamental problems of the
society today and make an analysis of them from the perspective of the Social
Doctrine of the Church.
d.
To sensitize the pupil´s heart in these problems and teach how to find them own
moral act by themselves.
e.
To get the knowledge of the great moral principles, values and virtues in order to

guide their social dimension.
f.
To help the pupil to recognition the importance of social dimension of the human
person, I mean, in his familiar, labour and community dimension.
g.
To know, understand and estimate the knowledge and the contribution of the
Catholic Church for the society.

To find the contribution of the Catholic Church to the areas of the educational grade.

CB1-Students acquire and understand knowledge in their field of study
based on general secondary education but usually reaching a level that,
although supported on advanced text books, also includes aspects
involving state-of-the-art knowledge specific to their area.

Note: In order to pass the subject the student must obtain a 50% grade in both, the theoretical and
practical content.
Criteria for granting a grade of a with honors: The mention of Distinction will be awarded to the
students who have achieved a score equal or greter than 9.0. The number of Distinctions granted will
not exceed 5 % of students enrolled in a subject in the corresponding academic year unless
enrollment is under 20, in wich case only one Distinction may be granted. (Royal Decree number
1125/2003)
To pass this class both in 1st or in 2nd call: the student must obtain a grade equal or higher that
50% in all items.
