Carl and Mary Welhausen Library is awarded Texas Book

 Carl and Mary Welhausen Library is awarded Texas Book Festival Collections Enhancement Grant The Carl and Mary Welhausen Library has been awarded a Texas Book Festival Collections Enhancement Grant in the amount of $2,500 to increase the Children’s Spanish and Bi‐Lingual collection. Currently, this section of the library consists of only 75 titles. “With this grant, we hope to increase that number significantly”, said Librarian, Gena Jiral. “Yoakum has become a very diverse community, and it is vital that we are able to serve our Spanish speaking population as we do others.” The project is scheduled to be completed over the next several months, and will be announced when books are available for check out. The Texas Book Festival Collection Enhancement Grants support libraries in replacing worn books and adding new books to their collection. Since the Texas Book Festival’s (TBF) founding in 1995, it has been a part of the TBF’s mission to promote Texas libraries and literacy. Each year, funds raised at the annual Texas Book Festival support grants that are distributed the following year. Since 1996, the organization has funded numerous grants totaling more than $2.8 million to libraries all across Texas; and 2016 grant awards have added up to more than $100,000. The Carl and Mary Welhausen Library and City of Yoakum would like to take this opportunity to thank the Texas Book Festival Grant Program in helping serve our community and many others. por libros en español de la Festival de Libros Tejanos
La Biblioteca de Carl y Mary Welhausen ha recibido una subvencíon por $2,500 de la organizacíon de
caridad, llamado Festival de Libros Tejanos (Texas Book Festival). Esta subvencíon es para mejorar la colección de
libros escritos en español y libros bilingues por niños en la biblioteca.
Ahora, hay 75 titulos de libros por niños que tiene titulos escritos en español y titulos bilingues en la
colección de libros bilingues y de libros en español.
“Con esta donación, esperamos a aumentar ese número significativamente,” dijo la bibliotecaria, Gena Jiral.
“Yoakum ha convertido a una comunidad con mucha diversidad y es muy importante que podemos server la
población que se habla español como servimos otras.
Este projecto está programada para ser completado en tres a cinco meses, y la biblioteca se va a anunciar
cuando los libros estan listos para comprobar afuera de la biblioteca.
Los subvencíones de la Festival de Libros Tejanos (TBF) apoyan las bibliotecas en la sustitucíon de libros
desgastados y en la adición de libros nuevos a sus colecciónes. Desdea la fundación de la Festival de Libros
Tejanos en 1995, habia parte de la mission de TBF a promover las bibliotecas y la alfabetización en Texas.
Cada año, los dineros recaudados por la Festival de Libros Tejanos, apoyan subvencíones que estan distrubuidos en
el próximo año.
Desde 1996, la organizacíon ha financiado numerosos donaciones por un total más de $2,8 millones de dólares por
bibliotecas de un lado a Texas al otro y en el año 2016, la organizacíon ha dado mas de $100.000 dólares.
La Biblioteca de Carl y Mary Welhausen y la Ciudad de Yoakum le dan gracias a la programa de subvencíones de la
Festival de Libros Tejanos para ayudar a server nuestra comunidad y muchas otras.
Es con organizacíones y fundaciónes comoe eso, en que bibilotecas se puedan satisfacer las necesidades de sus
comunidades.
