Ignasi M. is a documentary, but it could very well be a bittersweet comedy. Ventura Pons follows the conversations that Ignasi Millet –famous museologist- carries out with his family and friends, regarding his disease –he is HIV-positive-, his homosexuality, his peculiar family, Catalan nationalism, and the Spanish economic crisis. Ignasi is going through dramatic times: the years of economic prosperity are over, he has a mortgage, banks are threatening with seizing his possessions, he is sick and he is participating in a new clinical trial, his father attempted suicide, his ex-wife is now a paraplegic, on a wheelchair and has discovered she is a lesbian. His two sons are in London, where they arrived as squatters but have now found professional success, although one of them became religious… The outlook is extreme, but Ignasi has courage and humor to give away. This is a documentary about a man and his surroundings, which works as an acid and critical look at the Spain of today.
