Racławickie 14 20-950. Lublin / 24-25 October 2013 Karol Wojtyła had a great impact not only in 20th-century history but also on religious, cultural, scientific, political, etc. aspects of life. The Catholic University of Lublin, where Wojtyła lectured for 25 years, is organising a Congress (24-25 October 2013), which will be devoted to Wojtyła’s main intellectual passion – the issue of a person and personalism. The organisers are not merely interested in the presentation of Wojtyła’s anthropological views but rather in an in-depth analysis of the assumptions of his version of personalism and the results of its application to various aspects of reality. The Congress will include three topic groups The first topic group will comprise the origin, sources of inspiration, beginnings, motives, first ideas, background, i.e. everything that Wojtyła’s personalism as an intellectual attitude and a system of thought stemmed from. We will concentrate on literary activity, writings of John of the Cross, St. Thomas’s thought, Scheler’s thought, mysticism and prayer, theatrical and cultural activities, priesthood, spiritual and Pág. 110 interpersonal experience as well as biographical and historical motives. As a result, an outline of the method will appear. The second topic group will concern methodology. Why did Wojtyła look for support for the truth about a person in the philosophy of being and consciousness? Is a person’s hermeneutics through Wojtyłaspecific method of personalism? Did he identify an object with a person? Why does ethics need anthropology as personology? How did Wojtyła solve the problem of dichotomy between substantialist and relational concept of the human person? What are the consequences of Wojtyła’s hermeneutic method for connecting metaphysical and ethical personalism? Since there can be only one personalism, what aspects does Karol Wojtyła’s personalism have? Can metaphysics be replaced with ethics? What is the relation between ethical personalism and personalistic ethics? The third topic group will be devoted to the specificity of Wojtyła’s personalism, its application and relevance. The following issues will appear here: personalism as a meth- odological tool, a tool of criticism of anthropological and humanistic trends, ethical personalism as a tool which is helpful in solving general and specific human problems, theology of the body as the highest form of theology of the human person, education and culture in the key of a person and personalism. Please note that in Wojtyła’s thought a person’s perspective and principles of personalism are dominating and decisive when it comes to the most significant issues. Rev.
