Temporary Road Closure and Detours Scheduled at
Telegraph Canyon Road
Telegraph Canyon Road will be closed to motorists in both directions at Interstate 805 (I-805) overnight from Sunday through Wednesday to accommodate work
to widen the freeway bridge. Telegraph Canyon Road at I-805 will be closed each night from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Motorists will be detoured around the closure.
The temporary detours are as follows:
Westbound Telegraph Canyon Road Closure: Drivers traveling west on Telegraph Canyon Road will be detoured onto northbound I-805. Drivers will then exit at
East H Street and travel west, take the I-805 south and exit at East L Street/Telegraph Canyon Road and continue west.
Eastbound Telegraph Canyon Road Closure: Drivers traveling east on Telegraph Canyon Road will be detoured onto southbound I-805. Drivers will then exit
at Olympic Parkway and travel east, take the I-805 north and exit at Telegraph Canyon Road and continue east.
Northbound Off-ramp to Westbound East L Street/Telegraph Canyon Road Closure: Drivers who wish to access westbound East L Street/Telegraph
Canyon Road from northbound I-805 will be detoured to East H Street. Drivers will then travel west on East H Street, take the I-805 south and exit at East L
Street/Telegraph Canyon Road and continue west.
Southbound Off-ramp to Eastbound Telegraph Canyon Road Closure: Drivers who wish to access eastbound Telegraph Canyon Road from southbound I-805
will be detoured to Olympic Parkway. Drivers will travel east on Olympic Parkway, take the I-805 north and exit at Telegraph Canyon Road and continue east.
Bridge improvements are part of the first phase of the I-805 South Project, a $1.4 billion effort to create a modern new transportation backbone for the South
County. Construction on the first phase of the project began in June. Work includes building one carpool lane in each direction along an eight-mile segment of the
SOUTH
freeway stretching from East Palomar Street in Chula Vista to State Route 94 in San Diego. The carpool lanes are scheduled to open in fall 2013.
