Submission from Argentina

A submission has been received in relation to item 17 of the agenda of the twenty-seventh
session of the Subsidiary Body for Implementation and item 12 of the agenda of the twenty-seventh
session of the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice.

Gracias Sr. Presidente,
La República Argentina acaba de terminar de elaborar su Segunda Comunicación Nacional, que será
presentada ante la Secretaría de la Convención a la brevedad.
El Informe Nacional de la República Argentina no incluye las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero
de las Islas Malvinas, Georgias del Sur y Sandwich del Sur, que son parte integrante del territorio
nacional argentino, debido a que se encuentran ilegalmente ocupados por el Reino Unido de Gran
Bretaña e Irlanda del Norte, y son objeto de una disputa de soberanía reconocida expresamente por la
Asamblea General y el Comité Especial de Descolonización de las Naciones Unidas, así como por otros
foros y organismos internacionales.
La República Argentina rechaza la inclusión de las Islas Malvinas, Georgias del Sur y Sandwich del Sur
en cualquier informe presentado por el Reino Unido de Gran Bretaña e Irlanda del Norte a la Secretaría
de Cambio Climático.
Sr. Presidente,
La Argentina solicita que esta declaración sea circulada como un documento Miscelanea, e incluida en el
informe de la reunión.
