Que es? Proveedoras de cuidado de ninos, familiar y
centros pueden accesar nuestros recursosFotocopiadora, Laminadora, Cortador de Disenos,
tablero de franela, paquetes con temas, y nuestra
biblioteca! Limites en la cantidad por año (Julio
2014-Junio 2015) son: Laminacion 30 pies. Y 160
copias. Cada proveedora tendra una tarjeta para
ponchar que se guardara en los archivos de las
oficinas de CAC@UVU. Cuando has usado la
cantidad permitida el costo es de $.50 el pie de
laminacion y $.25 por 10 copias o $.05 por una sola
copia.

Professional Development Opportunities
El Departmento de Workforce Services ha seleccionado a Tracy Gruber como la
nueva Directora de Utah’s Office of Child Care. Tracy esta reemplazando a Kristen
Floyd, quien se enfocara en algunos negocios de familia
“Tracy a demostrado etica profesional y pasion por los ninos de Utah lo que la hace
una buena lider para nuestra Oficina de Child Care,” dice Jon Pierpont, Director
Ejecutivo del Departmento de Workforce Services. “Ella es una buena adquisicion
para el estado y para los padres y proveedoras de cuidado de ninos.”
Tracy ha trabajado como consejera en DWS en Intergenerational Poverty, y antes de
eso fue la Directora de State Fiscal Policy for Voices for Utah Children. El trabajo de
Tracy con Voices for Utah Children incluyo mucho enfasis con la politica legislative,
estudio y alcance publico. Es originalmente de Chicago, Tracy obtuvo su Doctorado
en Jurisprudencia En la Escuela de Leyes en Chicago-Kent College y trabajo en Utah
State Bar como administradora del nuevo Programa de Entrenamiento de Leyes.

Pregunta de la Proveedora/Comentario: La temperatura de la clase estaba bien fria el Sabado.
CAC at UVU Respuesta: Estamos de acuerdo! El Sistema en nuestro edificio esta regulado por las oficinas de UVU. Nos
han informado que debido a los años del edificio y la manera que fue construido, habra momentos en que el cuarto estara
muy frio durante el verano o muy caliente durante el invierno. Hacemos lo mejor que podemos pidiendo que se ajuste la
temperatura a como sea necesario. Una sugerencia es vestir varias capas.

Cada trimestre las proveedoras estan invitadas al paseo que
hacemos para visitar la casa de
Lori Taylor child para ver como ha arreglado el entorno de
adentro y afuera y ver como ha adaptado el espacio a las
diferentes ciercumstancias a traves de los años.
Has preguntas y crea coneccion con otras proveedoras
que estan trabajando en el entorno de su programa para los
ninos. Esto es parte de la clase de Cuidados Basicos que Lori
ensena.

Monthly Rate and Child Development Tips
Actualizacion de Tasa Mensual
La Oficina de Child Care (DWS) es la agencia que determina la tasa
de subsidio para el cuidado de ninos y la proveedora asiste en el
proceso reportando a CAC@UVU lo que cobra al mes.
Periodicamente OCC hace una encuesta para subir la tasa de
subsidio. ES MUY IMPORTANTE QUE REPORTES EL TOTAL AL MES
DE TU PENSION A CAC@UVU. NO REPORTES MEDIO TIEMPO O POR
HORA.
En el futuro, DWS no le pagara a las proveedoras el subsidio SI NO
HAN REPORTADO CUANDO COBRAN AL MES. Por favor asegurense
que reportan su pension mensual cuando actualizan anualmente
su informacion durante Septiembre hasta Diciembre. Actualizalo
Hay algunas maneras que puedes actualizar tu informacion.

Todos los padres necesitan consejo de vez en cuando. Aqui hay algunos consejos para: Ansiedad de Separacion
RECUERDA: La separacion es estresante para los ninos. Los ninos muestran sus sentimientos acerca de la separacion de acuerdo a su
personalidad. Experiencias previas con la separacion van a influir
en la ansiedad. Los ninos experimentan aumento en la ansiedad
de separacion..
Padres y Proveedoras pueden tomar accion:
• Participa en un periodo donde los padres pueden quedarse
mas tiempo cuando el nino viene por primera vez.
• Acepta el miedo del nino a la separacion.
• Considera otras fuentes de la ansiedad.
• Reduce conversaciones de adulto cuando lo recoges.
• Comuniquense y desarrollen un plan para ayudar al nino.
Acciones que los padres pueden tomar:
• Pasa tiempo con el nino antes de ir a dejarlo.
• Trae un articulo que le de seguridad.
• Crea una rutina de dejarlo y recogerlo.
• Planifica lo que haran juntos en casa cuando lo recogas.
• Despidete antes de irte.
• Andate rapido.
• Comprende que a veces los ninos lloran para hacer sentir
culpables a los padres.
Acciones que la proveedora puede tomar:
• Saluda al nino cada dia.
• Permite el articulo de seguridad de casa
• Ten actividades listas para el nino.
• Construye una relacion con el nino.
• Juega cerca del nino.
• Crea una rutina para la despedida .
• Reafirma a los padres que el nino va a estar bien y que el
nino va a dejar de llorar.
• Evita movimientos rapidos y contacto fisico a menos que el nino lo pida.
• Lee el libro The Kissing Hand, por Audrey Penn para ayudar al nino a calmarse.

Quality Indicator Highlight – Family Involvement
Comprendiendo los Indicadores de Calidad
Care About Childcare (CAC) ofrece a las proveedoras la oportunidad de mostrar los indicadores de
calidad que ellas proveen a los ninos que tienen a su cuidado. El programa CAC esta disponible solamente
para Licensed Centers que ofrecen cuidados de tiempo complete y Licensed Family Providers (no RC).
En orden de sere legible para participar, Centros y Family Providers deben tener la licensia por 6 meses o
mas y estar en buen termino con Utah’s Child Care Licensing Program.
El programa de indicadores de calidad de Care About Childcare es 100% voluntario. Proveedoras que
llenan los requisitos pueden escoger de hasta 20 diferentes criterios en las listas de 6 diferentes Indicadores
de Calidad para mostrar en su pagina de perfil individual. Todos los Criterios de Indicadores de Calidad
has sido derivados de estudios basados en estandares de calidad de cuidado de ninos. Todos los criterios
estan arriba y mas alla de los requisitos de Utah’s Child Care Licensing Program.
Los criterios de Indicadores de Calidad estan verificados a traves de inventarios, documentos y fotos
enviadas por la proveedora a una de las 6 agencias de Care About Childcare en el estado.
Hay aproximadamente 100 diferentes criterios que las proveedoras pueden escoger dependiendo del
cuidado que ofrecen. Las proveedoras no necesitan aplicar a todos los criterios disponibles. No todos los
criterios se aplican a todos los programas. Hay muchas maneras correctas de ofrecer cuidado de calidad.
Se anima a las proveedoras aplicar a los criterios de calidad de CAC que son correctos para su programa y
las familias a las que ayudan.
Indicador de Calidad de Care About Childcare: Family Involvement
Este indicador de calidad ayuda a las proveedoras y los padres estar conectados e involucrados en el
cuidado de los ninos. El diferente criterio bajo este indicador ayuda a crear una coneccion de calidad.
FI #9 – Programa provee oportunidad a las familias de compartir las
tradiciones familiares
FI #12 – Programa planifica actividades sociales para las familias diferentes dias
de la semana o diferentes horas para acomodar las necesidades de las
familias
FI # 13 – Familias reciben informacion del programa a traves de boletin o
medios sociales
FI #14 – El programa tiene un cartel para compartir informacion con los padres
Porque es importante - "Padres que se involucran en las experiencias escolares de los ninos es
importante para los padres, el personal, y los ninos. Padres estan mejor informados y se sienten parte del
programa. Personal puede ofrecer mas variedad en el programa si tienen ayuda adicional de los padres. Los

THANKS FOR REMEMBERING OUR TRAINING GUIDELINES:
Register Early! Each class is limited to 20 providers. You are encouraged to register early
to secure your place. (At least one month before the class begins)
Arrive on time if you are using the class for the Career Ladder.
If you arrive late or leave early you can use the hours for licensing only.
The entire session will need to be retaken for Career Ladder credit.
For Saturday classes it is recommended that you bring your own sack lunch. The lunch
break is only 20 minutes. If you choose to leave, you need to return ON TIME to receive
credit for the second session. There will be no exceptions for returning late.
Please find care for your infants and children. They will not be allowed in classes.
Behave in a professional manner during class. If an instructor must give you a verbal
warning about disruptive behavior a second time, you will be asked to leave the class and
credit for that night will not be given.
Thank you for your professional and helpful attitude in class.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SYSTEM PARTICIPANT CODE OF CONDUCT
•
Punctuality I Attendance: I understand that I must be in class at or before the time scheduled for class to
begin in order to obtain credit for the class. If I arrive after the time that class is scheduled to begin, I can use the
time that I was actually in attendance for licensing credit, but I will have to repeat the full 2 1/2 hour session to get
Career Ladder credit for the course. This includes returning on time from breaks and lunch. Class will begin when
the trainer determines that it is time to start. I understand that if I am not present during the entire class period, I will
not receive Career Ladder credit for the session, and will have to repeat the full 2 1/2 hour session in order to
receive credit for the course.
•
Disruptive Behavior: I will be respectful to all personnel that support the Professional Development System
(ie: Care About Childcare, CCPDI staff, OCC staff, etc.). I will not use obscene, profane, threatening,
discriminatory, harassing or abusive language. During class, I will be respectful to the trainer and others in
attendance during each class session. I will not engage in any conversation or behavior that is disruptive or
disrespectful to the trainer or other participants in the class. I will attentively participate in class. I will not text
message or make cell phone calls during class time. I understand that I am required to turn my cell phone and/or
other electronic devices off or turn them to vibrate during class time. I will limit all cell phone calls to break time or
after class time. I will not engage in disruptive private conversations during class time. If I must bring food or drink
to class, I will eat quietly and will not allow food or drink to become disruptive or distracting to the trainer or other
class participants.
•
Illegal Activity I Health & Safety: I understand that any illegal activity, including behavior that threatens the
health or safety of the trainer or another class participant before, during or after class will be cause for my
immediate expulsion from class and permanent suspension from participation in the Career Ladder and the
Professional Development Award, and that such behavior may be reported to law enforcement. I understand that
I may be asked to leave a training if my condition prevents me from participating or is disruptive to the class
environment.
•
Children: I understand that adult training classes are not a developmentally appropriate environment for
children of any age. I will not bring children to class.
•
Class Roll: I understand that in order to receive credit for each class session, I must sign the roll before
class begins. I understand that failure to do so will result in my not receiving credit for the class session. I
understand that I may not sign the roll for someone else.
•
Confidentiality: I understand that confidentiality is extremely important. I understand that I must keep all
names and other identifying information confidential when I am relating a story during class or asking for guidance
regarding certain issues. I also understand that it is my responsibility to keep sensitive issues discussed during
class in confidence, and not discuss it with family or friends outside of that classroom setting.
•
Refunds: I understand that class registration fees are non-refundable. I understand that if I notify the
CCR&R a minimum of three days in advance that I am unable to attend a course for which I am registered, that my
registration fee may be able to be credited toward another class. I understand that it is my responsibility to contact
the CCR&R to make these arrangements.
•
Non-Compliance: I understand that, in cases of infractions of a minor severity (behavior that has been
determined to be disruptive but not illegal), that I will be allowed one issued verbal warning upon the first violation
of the above listed rules. I understand that upon the second such infraction, I will be suspended from participation
in the Career Ladder and Training and Professional Development Award for one year from that infraction date. I
understand that upon the third such infraction I will be permanently barred from participation in the Career Ladder
and Professional Development Award System. I understand that upon the first incident of any violation in which I
engage in illegal activity (including threatening or intimidating behavior), that I will be permanently banned from
participation in the Career Ladder and Training and the Professional Development Award System, and that such
action may be cause for intervention by law enforcement and/or other legal action.
