The Argentine newspaper Clarín published on Friday an e-mail that shows that the companies were obliged to pay bribes to
do business with Venezuela. This scandal has been investigated by judicial and parliamentary authorities in Argentina.
The e-mail dated 2005 had been written by José Luis Médica, who was then president of the Argentine Chamber of
Manufacturers of Agricultural Machinery (Cafma). There, the businessman warned the members of the association that a 15
percent commission must be payed to Palmat, one of the companies that would have been investigated as middlemen in
the eventual payment of bribes.
The existence of a "parallel embassy is being denied by the new Argentine Foreign Minister, Héctor Timerman.
