Homework
It is so important to work with your child on their homework. We have so much to
teach and so little time to fit everything in. Homework is an important time to reinforce
concepts that have been taught in class. I guarantee that if you consistently work on the
homework with your child, you will see the progress they make throughout the year. This
is also a great way to help your student learn the responsibility that is vital for success in
this upcoming school year.
Each week your student will be sent home with a red homework folder filled with
their homework assignments for the week on Monday. They are to complete all of the
assignments. There will usually be a spelling, language, writing, math and a reading passage
(lucky listener). Homework is due on Thursday.
Students will receive their passage on Monday and will be timed by their teacher
(words per minute). Another timing of the same passage will be given on Thursday and we
will graph their improvement. For homework students are expected to read their passage
to you and as many people as they can. Each “lucky listener” will sign a box on the back.
Students may read to you more than once so don’t feel like you can’t sign more than one
box. Students are expected to have at least 10 signatures by the end of the week. A
“lucky listener” can be anyone who listens to your child read the passage aloud. This can
be: parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, friends, neighbors, grandma, grandpa, pets, stuffed
animals, etc. Your child’s teacher will decide on incentives for students who have at least
12 signatures. Look at the top of the passage for the fluency skill we are focusing on.
Please keep this passage in their backpack; students will be given opportunities to
practice at school as well. The idea is to have your child read as many times as possible
and to improve fluency.
Students who are not prepared with their homework will have to attend homework
club and miss out on the Friday activity, as well as pay classroom points. Students who are
fully prepared with their homework will receive classroom points as well as be able to
attend the Friday activity.
*If students need help with their homework, they can stay in from recess to ask
for help, but they are responsible to ask for help. Don’t wait until Thursday morning to
ask, because it is due as soon as you walk through the door.
Tarea
Es importante ayudar a su niño con la tarea. Tenemos mucho para enseñar y poco
tiempo para enseñarlo. Usamos tarea para ayudar los niños reforzar lo que enseñamos
durante el día. Estoy seguro si ayudara su niños con la tarea, ustedes podrán ver el cambio
en conocimiento de ellos. Esto es una manera para ayudar a su niños encontrar la
responsabilidad que necesitan tener por el año siguiente.
Cada semana su estudiante tendrá un carpeta roja enviado a casa con la tarea
asignado para la semana. Su hijo es responsable hacer todo la tarea asignado. Usualmente
será algo de ortografía, escritura , lenguaje, matemáticas, y un pasaje de lectura (Oyentes
Afortunados).
Los estudiantes van a recibir sus pasajes el lunes y será medido del tiempo por la
maestra (palabras cada minuto). Ellos van a ser medido del tiempo otra vez el jueves de la
misma semana. Vamos crear un gráfico para que podamos ver el cambio. Los estudiantes
necesitan leer sus pasajes a tantas personas que sea posible. Cada persona que escucha al
estudiante necesita firmar la caja al reverso del papel. Los estudiantes pueden leer a
ustedes muchas veces, entonces no se preocupe afirmar muchas veces también. Los
alumnos necesitan tener 10 firmas al fin de la semana. Las personas que cuentan son gente
que escucha el estudiante leer en voz alto. Ellos pueden ser familiares, vecinos, mascotas,
animales de peluche, etcétera. Los maestros deciden lo que recibirán los estudiantes que
reciban 10 signaturas. Por favor deja el pasaje en la mochila de su niño. Los estudiantes
tendrán oportunidades leer en la escuela también. La asignación (Lucky Listeners) se
debe los jueves.
El resto de la tarea también se debe los jueves por la mañana. Los estudiantes
que no traigan su tarea necesitan asistir Homework Club y no pueden jugar hasta que la
termina, y también van a pagar puntos. Los alumnos que hicieron su tarea completamente
pueden jugar y ganar puntos.
*Si su niño necesita ayuda con la tarea ellos pueden hacerlo durante recreo, pero los
estudiantes son responsables para pedir la ayuda. No pidan ayuda el jueves, porque la tarea
se debe jueves por la mañana cuando entran el salón de clase.
