He is on the team that filed the Commission’s first lawsuit for violations of the Federal Trade Commission Act related to unreasonable data security practices. Prior to his employment at the Federal Trade Commission, Mr. Moriarty was an intellectual property and appellate attorney with Wilmer, Cutler, Pickering, Hale, and Dorr LLP. He has worked as a law clerk for judges on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington. He graduated from New York University School of Law, where he was a member of the law review. 1
