Meeting began at 3:34 p.m.

Quorum was established. See attached Sign In Sheet for SSC/ELAC Meeting, 11-9-10.
Welcome. Mr. Ayala welcomed all present. Mr. Ayala ran the meeting in Spanish and Ms.
Gomez translated in English. Mr. Ayala also shared about the success of our last three family
events: Grandparents and Goodies Day, Dads N Donuts and Mommies and Muffins Day.
Pictures of the events were shared.
Review & Approval of the Prior Meeting Minutes. After review of the prior meeting’s
Minutes. Ms. Lopez motioned to approve the Minutes for the September 30th meeting. Ms. Moye
seconded the motion. The vote was unanimous in the affirmative. The motion carries.
Election of New SSC Members. Mr. Ayala noted that there was a parent-vacancy due to a
child’s move from the site. He shared that only parents could participate in the nomination and
selection process of a parent representative. The floor was opened to nominations or volunteers.
Ms. Lourdes Sandoval shared that she would be willing to serve. Parents present voted in the
affirmative. Ms. Lourdes Sandoval was welcomed as the newest member of School Site Council.
Selection of New DELAC Representative. Mr. Ayala explained the role of the DELAC
Representative. The floor was opened to either nominations or volunteers. Ms. Maria Romero
(parent) shared that she would be willing to serve. Parents of English Learners present voted in
the affirmative. Ms. Maria Romero was welcomed as the new DELAC Representative.
Selection of New SSC Leadership. Mr. Ayala explained that we would now organize our
School Site Council Leadership. The floor was opened to nominations. Ms. Garcia (teacher)
nominated Ms. Maricela Lopez (parent) for President of School Site Council. Ms. Lopez
accepted the nomination. No other nominations were presented. Ms. Gomez (school social
worker) motioned that Ms. Lopez be the new President. Ms. Navarro (teacher) seconded the
motion. The vote was unanimous in the affirmative. The motion carries. Ms. Maricela Lopez was
recognized as our new School Site Council President.
The floor was opened to nominations for Vice President. President Lopez nominated Ms. Gomez
(school social worker) to the position of Vice President. Ms. Gomez accepted the nomination.
No other nominations were proposed. Ms. Moye (teacher) motioned Ms. Gomez be the new Vice
President. Ms. Navarro (teacher) seconded the motion. The vote was unanimous in the
affirmative. The motion carries. Ms. Heather Gomez was recognized as our new School Site
Council Vice President.
Mr. Ayala will continue, as is customary, to serve as the Clerk of the Council.
President Maricela Lopez commented that it is important for parents especially to participate in
the governance of their school. This is the way for our concerns to be met and our voices to be
heard.
Update on After School Program. Learning Director Vega provided a brief update on our After
School Program. She shared that 270 are currently participating and that there is a waiting list.
She also shared about the success of our combined After School Program and PTA Family
Halloween Event held the last Friday in October.
Our next SSC/ELAC meeting was announced for February 8, 2011 at 3:30 p.m. in Room 26.

Bienvenida. El Sr. Ayala dio la bienvenida. El manejó la junta en español y la Sra. Gómez
tradujo al inglés. El Sr. Ayala también compartió acerca del éxito de las ultimas tres actividades
de familia con la escuela: Pan Dulce con los Abuelitos, Desayuno con Papá y el Desayuno con
Mamá. Se compartieron imágenes de tales eventos.
Repaso y Aprobación de la Minuta de la Junta Anterior. Después de repaso de la minuta de
la junta anterior la Sra. López movió para aprobar la minuta de la junta del 30 de septiembre. La
Sra. Moye apoyó la moción. El voto fue afirmativo unánimemente. La moción se lleva a cabo.
Elección de Nuevo miembro del Consejo Escolar. El Sr. Ayala notifico a los presentes de que
había un vacante en representación de padres dado a la salida de un alumno de la escuela a otra
escuela. Explicó que solo padres pudiesen participar en la nominación e el proceso de selección
del representante. Se dio tiempo para nominaciones o voluntarios. La Sra. Lourdes Sandoval dijo
que ella estaría dispuesta a server. Las mamás presentes votaron en el afirmativo de manera
unánime. Se le dio la bienvenida a la Sra. Lourdes Sandoval como el más nuevo miembro del
Consejo Escolar.
Selección del Nuevo Representante del DELAC. El Sr. Ayala explicó el papel del
representante del DELAC. Se dio tiempo para nominaciones o voluntarios. La Sra. Maria
Romero (madre) compartió que ella estaría dispuesta a servir. Los padres de alumnos aprendices
de ingles presentes votaron unánimemente en el afirmativo. Se le dio la bienvenida a la Sra.
Romero como nuestra nueva representante del DELAC.
Selección de Nuevo Liderato del Consejo Escolar. El Sr. Ayala explicó que ahora se
organizaría el liderato del Consejo. Se dio tiempo para nominaciones. La Sra. García (maestra)
nominó a la Sra. Maricela López (madre) para Presidenta del Consejo. La Sra. López aceptó la
nominación. Ninguna otra nominación se hizo. La Sra. Gómez (trabajadora social) movió para
aprobar que la Sra. López fuese la Presidenta. La Sra. Navarro (maestra) apoyó la moción. El
voto fue afirmativo unánimemente. La moción se lleva a cabo. Se reconoció a la Sra. Maricela
López como la nueva Presidenta del Consejo Escolar.
Se dio tiempo para nominaciones para Vicepresidente. La Presidenta López nominó a la Sra.
Gómez (trabajadora social) a la posición de Vice Presidenta. La Sra. Gómez aceptó la
nominación. Ninguna otra nominación se hizo. La Sra. Moye (maestra) movió para aprobar que
la Sra. Gómez fuese la Vice Presidenta. La Sra. Navarro (maestra) apoyó la moción. El voto fue
afirmativo unánimemente. La moción se lleva a cabo. Se reconoció a la Sra. Heather Gómez
como la nueva Vice Presidenta del Consejo Escolar.
El Sr. Ayala continuará, como es costumbre, sirviendo como el Secretario del Consejo.
La Presidenta Maricela López comentó que es importante para los padres especialmente
participar en el manejo de su escuela. Esta es la manera que se atienden nuestras preocupaciones
y se escuchan nuestra voz.
Actualización del Programa Después de Escuela. La Srta. Vega dio una breve actualización
del Programa Después de Escuela. Compartió que 270 alumnos participan de éste y que hay lista
de espera. Compartió también acerca del éxito de nuestra actividad combinada del Programa
Después de Escuela y la Asociación de Padres y Maestros-El Evento Familiar Para la Noche de
Brujas que se llevó a cabo el último viernes de octubre.
Nuestra siguiente junta del Consejo Escolar y ELAC se anunció para el 8 de febrero 2011 a las
3:30 p.m. en el Salón 26.
