Crestview School of Inquiry
A New Tech School
This year, as we implement project-based learning (PBL)
in our school, we will highlight some of the projects that
students will be working on. This week, we are
highlighting the current project for sixth grade.
Sixth Grade
Making Our Imprint
Students learn about the difference between wants and
needs, and find ways that they can provide for the needs
of others in their community. They will perform services
in the community as well as plan for obtaining any
resources needed to do so.
Sixth grade kicked off this
project with a field trip to Meals
from the Heartland where they
worked collaboratively to
package 21,600 meals that will
be shipped for starving people
around the world!
GARAGE NO SALE
WILL BE HELD IN THE
CRESTVIEW CAFETERIA
FROM 1–3 P.M. ON
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 24
Beginning Oct. 1, there will be a few a la carte
items available for purchase at lunch time.
These a la carte items are not part of a lunch
and may only be purchased if there are funds
in the student’s account for them. The items will not count
toward making a “complete lunch;” they are simply “extras.”
Please ensure that your child has money in their
account for these extras, since they will not be allowed
to take them if the funds are not available.
Red Ribbon Week
October 26–30
We will be highlighting Red Ribbon Week and drug
prevention by participating in the following themes:





Monday, Oct. 26: Rally Against Drugs; wear red
Tuesday, Oct. 27: Team Up Against Drugs; wear
your favorite sports team
Wednesday, Oct. 28: Put a Cap on Drugs; hat day
Thursday, Oct. 29: From Head to Toe, I'm Drug
Free; crazy hair and socks
Friday, Oct. 30: Drugs are Scary; wear black and
orange for Halloween
PICTURE RETAKES
The photographers will return to
Crestview for picture retakes on Friday,
Oct. 16. If your child was absent on the
day pictures were taken, send your
money envelope with payment on Oct. 16. Those who
need pictures retaken must bring their pictures with
them. Additional picture envelopes are available in the
office.

Al implementar este año, en nuestra escuela, un
aprendizaje basado en proyectos - PBL, estaremos
mencionando algunos de los proyectos los cuales los
estudiantes estarán trabajando. Esta semana
estaremos enfatizando en el proyecto actual de los
estudiantes del sexto grado.
Sexto Grado
Dejando nuestra Huella
Los estudiantes aprenden sobre la diferencia entre lo
que queremos y lo que necesitamos, y buscan maneras
en que ellos puedan proveerle a otros más necesitados
en nuestra comunidad. Ellos llevaran a cabo servicio
comunitario al igual que planificaran un plan para
obtener los recursos necesarios para llevar a cabo esto.
¡El sexto grado dio inicio a este
proyecto con una excursión a
“Meals for the Heartland” donde
todos trabajaron en colaboración
empacando 21,600 paquetes de
alimentos que serán enviados a
personas en todo el mundo!

¡Noticias sobre el
almuerzo!
Comenzando el 1ro de octubre habrá menos
artículos a la carta para comprar durante el
almuerzo. Estos artículos a la carta no son parte del
almuerzo y solamente se pueden comprar si el
estudiante tiene dinero depositado en la cuenta. Estos artículos no
cuentan como un “almuerzo completo”, solamente son “artículos
adicionales”. Por favor asegúrese que su hijo(a) tenga
dinero en la cuenta para poder comprar cosas
adicionales, ya que no se les será permitido agarrar
nada si no tienen fondos/dinero disponibles.

Estaremos enfatizando la Semana de la Cinta Roja y
Prevención de Drogas tomando participación activa con los
siguientes temas:
 Lunes, 26 de octubre - Unámonos en Contra de
las Drogas; usa ropa color rojo
 Martes, 27 de octubre - : Unámonos en Equipo en
Contra de las Drogas; ponte ropa de tu equipo de
deporte favorito
 Miércoles, 28 de octubre – Dile no a las drogas;
Ponte tu gorra favorita
 Jueves, 29 de octubre - De pie a cabeza estoy
libre de drogas, Cabello y medias alocadas
 Viernes, 30 de octubre - Las drogas me asustan;
usa ropa negra y naranja para Halloween
Volveremos a Tomar la Foto Escolar
Los fotógrafos regresarán a Crestview el día
viernes, 16 de octubre. Si su hijo(a) estuvo
ausente el día que se tomaron las fotos, por
favor envíe el sobre con el dinero el día 16 de
octubre. Aquellos que deseen volver a tomarse la foto,
tienen que traer las fotos anteriores ese día. Tenemos
sobres adicionales para fotos en la oficina.
