Dear Parent/Guardian,
The Shoo the Flu program will be back with free flu vaccine for our students in October.
Due to a recent change in national recommendations, the nasal spray flu vaccine (FluMist)
will NOT be available this year. This means all health care providers and Shoo the Flu will
have only flu shots available. Getting a flu shot is strongly recommended and Shoo the Flu will
have enough flu shots for all students with completed consent forms. The vaccines are given by
trained nurses and nursing students.
Many students received a nasal spray vaccine last year and may not expect to get the shot.
Shoo the Flu nurses are trained to work with children but please talk to your student to prepare
them. Information on the date of our Shoo the Flu Vaccine Day will be shared soon.

El programa Shoo the Flu regresaré con vacuna contra la gripe gratis para nuestros estudiantes
este Octubre.
Debido a un cambio reciente en las recomendaciones nacionales, la vacuna contra la gripe
de forma spray nasal (FluMist) NO estará disponible este año. Esto significa que todos los
proveedores de servicios médicos y Shoo the Flu tendrán sólo vacunas contra la gripe de forma
inyección. Todavía se recomienda vacunarse contra la gripe y Shoo the Flu tendrá suficientes
vacunas contra la gripe para todos los estudiantes que tienen un formulario de consentimiento
completado. Las vacunas se administran por enfermeras entrenadas y estudiantes de
enfermería supervisados.
Muchos estudiantes recibieron la vacuna por spray nasal el año pasado y no va a esperarse
una inyección. Las enfermeras de Shoo the Flu están capacitados para trabajar con niños, pero
