There is a lot of talk about the new health care law, but what does it mean?
And, how will those you serve or employ be impacted?
The Affordable Care Act is perhaps the most sweeping reform in the
history of our nation’s health care system. The new law expands health
insurance to include more benefits for more people, and is aimed at
making coverage more affordable and available to the millions of uninsured
in our state. Those goals will not happen overnight, but we want to make
sure people understand the new law so that they can make the best
decisions for themselves and their families—and we need your help!

Be Covered is a grassroots campaign introducing uninsured Texans to the
new health insurance options available under the Affordable Care Act. The
campaign provides user-friendly information and on-the-ground guidance
to help families understand the new health care law. We work with community-based organizations and partners large and
small to reach people where they live, work, worship, learn, text and tweet. The campaign will join these partners to educate
their constituents, to hold neighborhood events linking families to services, and to help Texans Be Covered.

As a valued partner, we will make it as easy as possible to
educate your communities by creating information and
content you can access online 24/7. Information includes:
• A series of articles you can print, post and share to explain
to individuals what they can expect and when.
• An e-mail campaign that you can use to keep your
audience engaged and in tune with what’s coming and
when.
• A user-friendly bilingual website you can link to from your
organization’s website to connect your community to
valuable information, the benefits of insurance and timeline
of changes coming.
• A free bilingual supplement developed in partnership with
impreMedia, the nation’s largest daily Spanish newspaper
chain to help families prepare for the law and connect to
a range of programs and services that can help them live
healthier and more financially secure lives.

key changes happening under the new health care law.

Be Covered “Asegura tu Salud” es una campaña a base comunitaria dirigida a introducir a los residentes de Illinois que no tienen seguro médico las
nuevas opciones bajo la Ley del Cuidado de Salud a Bajo Precio. La campaña ofrece información fácil de entender y guía práctica para ayudar a las
familias a que conozcan la nueva ley del cuidado de salud. Trabajamos con organizaciones de base comunitaria y compañías para alcanzar a las
personas en el lugar donde viven, trabajan, estudian, oran e intercambian mensajes de texto o de “tweet”. La campaña se unirá con las organizaciones
para educar a sus miembros, organizar eventos en la comunidad que una a las familias con los servicios, y ayudar a las personas de Illinois a asegurar
su salud.

Ayuda a pasar la información
Te ayudaremos a que te sea lo más fácil posible para educar a tus
comunidades creando información que tendrás acceso por internet 24

• Una serie de artículos que se pueden imprimir, publicar y compartir
para explicar a los individuos lo que les espera y en qué momento.
• Una campaña de correos electrónicos que podrás usar para mantener
a tu audiencia informada con lo que está por venir.
• Una página de internet bilingüe fácil de usar al que podrás incluir
desde la página de internet de tu organización para dar información
importante a tu comunidad, los beneficios de un seguro médico, y un
calendario de los cambios que están por venir.
• Un nuevo folleto bilingüe y gratuito creado on impreMedia, la cadena
de periódicos diarios en español más grande de la nación, para ayudar
a las familias a prepararse para la ley y conectarse con muchos
programas y servicios que pueden ayudarles a llevar una vida más
saludable y con seguridad financiera.
• También tendremos materiales impresos y videos que estarán disponibles
para compartir con las personas a las que ofreces servicios.
Organiza un evento educativo
Ya sea que se trate de una organización pequeña que preste servicios a
unas personas o de una compañía grande que emplea a miles de
personas, hay algo que tú puedes hacer para ayudar a preparar a tu
